You guys that miss out on the GB, will know where to go to get your pistons!
???? Where exactly is that poll ??? I have been following this thread since day one and I have read/checked it 2-3 times now and there's no poll whatsoever. I know it was mentioned that a poll should take place for final decision on compression but that was as far as it went.tte said:That had been discussed earlier oin the thread and a poll decided the outcome.
Doward it was only a couple of days ago that you verified that the 040 pistons would be close to 8.7:1. Now you're saying that even the oversized pistons will be 8.5 ?Doward said:Correct. What I've passed on to Shawn, though, is that the final dish will remain the same cc irregardless of the oversize - so if you want a higher compression, you'll have to bore the block.
I'm aiming for about 8.5:1 - stock is 8.4, IIRC.
I'm really confused now. If the oversized 040 pistons will be 8.68:1 then what does this mean:Doward said:No no - the STOCK sized pistons will be 8.5:1 - the .040" will be like 8.68:1

How come this was not mentioned in the thread?Doward said:Link to poll I had put up - http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46436&highlight=compression+ratio
Tobycat it is the fact that these will be so closely spec'ed to the stock pistons that made it so intriguing to me as well as that it was mentioned that we could fully customise them. I don't really like forged pistons for a few reasons but these seemed to overcome most of my dislikes in them (e.g.: stockish skirt length) and I'm quite positive that compression was still discussed if you check on the last 2-3 pages. I know about the options offered and that's why I'm asking for that compression as nothing else out there combines everything else offered with these pistons. There's quite a few low or stock compression forged pistons offered in the market but what about a 8.6-8.7 comp piston with stockish weight and characteristics that will still be kind to the block? And I'm only still discussing this cause I was under the impression that it was under discussion. Not trying to force my opinion for everybody else in here, just stating my prefference.TobyCat said:I've definitely been following this thread for a while and pistons w/ stock compression is what almost everybody wanted. I believe right around the emoticon of beating a dead horse that IJ posted was when most people agreed that forged pistons @ stock compression would be better for a wider range of people.
If you want higher compression then there are lots of other options available.
Happy days again :bigthumb: !!!Doward said:$332.50 with rings + s/h.
Yannis, the DISH will remain the same size, irregardless of PISTON size.
Er... I wasn't trying to hide the compression ratio thread. Sorry about that, I thought everyone on here saw it!
Oversized piston with the same size dish will increase compression ratio

We may have a small problem, in the form of failure from Fed Ex - Fedex says the package was delivered and signed for by an L. Larry, but Eric's saying he's not aware of anyone in receiving with that name. :3d_frown: We're trying to find out if Shawn actually has the head/piston yet or not!
