After a lot of searching I haven't come across any answers. Does anyone know the differences between the PPS and Non-PPS pumps? I'm talking flow and pressure, hose/reservoir orientation, brackets, etc... I haven't been able to find anything online, TSRM, etc... The closest I can get is that the pumps DO look different by looking at replacement pump pictures
Although my truck is a 4runner, the concepts should be the same, My truck did not come with PPS (PPS was indeed an option for the truck too), and the pump is from a 91 or 92 supra with PPS. My power steering does not work, there are no leaks, I've cleaned and flushed the system with ATF, cleaned the screen on the reservoir. I did notice that when flushing the fluid while having the engine idle that very little fluid is being pushed through the pump. Since my rack was working fine with the original 22re non-PPS pump it leads me to believe that a bad pump is most likely the culprit. The question is now, should I get a re-manufactured PPS pump or non-PPS pump? I've already had the custom high pressure lines made, and I'd rather not have to re-make them to fit the non-PPS pump if possible.
