Your older unit probably was rusted through the resonator making the straight through muffler loud. That is an assumption of course. Was it always loud for you? They aren't now.

LOL, yeah.... did not have a resonator. Sounded great tho, just something about how the sounds would combine. Great alone, but did not play together well. I will miss that HKS muffler :-(
