I thought that I read somewhere that you needed to adjust the steering stoppers or something like that if youre running either the n/a or the tt wheels. So nothing at all had to be messed with to fit 275-285's on the rear?

Also a question for spacer users, do you get any vibration/alignment issues at high speeds with them, like can they be put on off-center?

No adjustment here. Don't know about with spacers. My favorite photo under a hard corner. I am a picture whore I know.

I'm not really sure where all this spacer bullshit comes from. (I'm not barking at you, I'm just hearing this repeated more and more often lately...)

We've been running these wheels on these cars for 16+ years now. I've never run spacers (or heard or talked about spacers) or adjusted ANYTHING to make these wheels work on these cars.

On Eric Varah's car, they were recessed quite a bit but that is because he was running MKIV spindles and brakes on his MKIII. Alignment was never 100% right and the wheels always looked like they were tucked in too far, and they were too far back in the wheel well as well:

I often wonder if it is a misquoted conversation about Eric's car that started all of this...

Compare my MKIII to those pics above - my wheels look normal to me:

Maybe someone is more picky about it than I am...

However, as far as I've notices, it's only during the last year or so that "new" guys have been talking about this. I suspect that someone made the statement that spacers were a requirement and now 101 people echo that statement but have NFI if it is true.

I've never used them, nor would I. Spacers aren't particularly safe things to run on high performance cars. These wheels are hubcentric btw... You run a spacer and you wind up making the studs load bearing. That's never a good a good thing.

heres mine... kinda sad that the fronts are sooo sunken in the wheel wells... the rears are flush, thanks to the 275's... fronts are 225's... planning to stick a 25mm spacer in the front sometime soon... I think MKIV wheels look great on an MKIII... but I'll be ditching these for some work's soon... :icon_bigg

Why such a narrow front tire? That's a narrow tire. 245/45's fit perfectly.

ahh... well the car came with 225/45's and 235/45's.. and well I burned the rears within a couple months, and the fronts are still pretty good... I'm thinking of doing 245's when they go bald... but I just lost my job, soo i'm gonna drag these tires out as long as I can...

Thread is coming along pretty well..thanks again for posting pictures.
MK4 TT rims do look very nice on the MK3's.
Although they fit without any modifications necesary, I am a little concerned about the fronts though...they do seem to sit too far inside the fender line. From what I'm hearing 25mm spacers will make them sit flush and perhaps 10-15mm in the rear.

Close up of rear on the front. which fills it out perfect imo. I'd like to know if running all four rears would be a problem.

Close up of normal fit. Doesn't bother me too much. I'm not going to run spacers.
