no stock gauge because i was not wanting to boost over 8 psi.

LOL, there ya go...

i dont mean to be a jerk here.., but how can you tell how far over 8psi you go, if something was to fail, like the actuator line previously mentioned... i think the boost gauge should always be the first mod for people, imo..

1st post spring is internal, and from what ive seen no you cant.
2nd post i wish we would of known that a week ago.

3rd:its cheaper to pay for shipping a new WG then it is for buying a spring i bet.

Swapping WG's is simple, there is a C pin on the arm that holds the arm to the flapper, pop that off undo the 2 wg bolts holding it to the turbo take the WG off put the new one on, put the c pin back on and put the 2 bolts back on. Put the turbo back on the car and tq those nuts down tight :)

dont lose that C pin though, i lost mine on an older turbo and the WG arm would pop off mid boost and i wouldnt be able to spool the turbo lol. It would be like driving an NA w/ no balls :(

hate to say it, but inspect your turbo shaft for play while its apart, i have had the same thing basically happen to me and it toasted my turbo from overspinning it to fast (i think).. mine was old though, , yours may be fine, just trying to save you another suprise later... :)

If its an old car, it will have problems.

If its a sports car, it will be driven hard.

Our problem is, our cars are both. So we expect it to be beaten and driven to hell and back. I was lucky when I bought my 92 turbo and decided to keep it instead of selling it.

Anyone trying to build a nice fast Supra on a small budget is going to end up frustrated, upset, and bitter.

The proper attitude is to find a car with a clean title, straight body, and sub $1000 price tag, and expect to have it running reliably and looking nice about $20k later.

Ummm. ??!?!

Did I miss something? If the wastgate spring was broke and there was no restiance, you wouldn't boost at all. The wastgate would pop right open and the turbo would never build boost. Or did I miss something?

Sorry about that.....

I haven’t slept in a few days, and I'm having trouble reading the screen right now (it's definitely time to go to bed), So I may have misread something. But I'm pretty certain I read what you said correctly. It's just the fact that IJ and Grim didn't catch it has me worried I missed something.

If there's no resistance then the wastegate won't stay closed and boost won't build.

So....

no resistance = no boost

Sorry if I'm not making sense, I'm tired. I'll get back on and talk more about it when I get up.
