First the SSauto manifold #2 runner collector DOES meet at an angle, nearly the same as the Greddy/Trust unit.

Second, you WILL see a decrease in performance ( the amount is unknown but could be felt probably on spool time) having just a thin plate ( 1/2" or less) thick instead of an actual adapter piece that is tapered to speed up the exhaust gasses to INCREASE spool.

The adapter I have actually makes up for the shorter collector and should perform just as fine as the orginal Greddy/Trust manifold.

I am getting the manifold blasted and coated after x-mas ( only time my friend that is going to paint it will get a break from the x-mas airbrush rush!)...

Yea, my point was the runner DOES meet at an angle which is undesireable. The Trust unit curves the runner up towards the turbo flange before it meets the collector area. I have since seen one of these SS manifolds in person and i must say it is a total piece, IMO. Most of the bends were not welded together evenly and there are huge lips all over the inside of this thing. Not to mention the runners do not flow straight out of the head flange. They are cut at an ange where they meet the flange. I have not seen the Trust one but I doubt they would do it this way.

As far as the adapter increasing power, I highly doubt you want to taper the manifold to speed exhaust gasses, thats what the turbine housing is for.

Thanks again for the comaparo. :)

I see the manifold Siman posted has reinforced welds vs some of the ones I've seen on Ebay don't have these. Is there a cutoff date to when they started with the reinforced welds?

Also what about Thermal Wrapping the manifold instead of coating it? Yeah its not pretty but does reduce the heat a little.

EDIT:- This one is a 321SS with a T4 Flange

IJ is that a T3 to T4 adapter I see there?

Is there a problem with lets say a T66 clearing the runners? from the pictures it seems you'll need a spacer or the housing will hit the runners.

Pioneer: I made the adaptor that size so I wouldn't have to change my IC pipes again but with a T04 flanged GT you'd need a 1" spacer for it to clear the Comp cover.

Not sure how big a comp is on a 66.

I don't think that motor is black enough 1J, maybe you should paint the turbo aswell :biglaugh: . It looks good for real tho. When will you have it installed?

IJ on a serious note, on the english cars, with the brake booster/master in the way it must be a real headache to sort out the turbo plumbing/downpipe.

can you remove that turbo once its in the car or does the engine need to come out again :p

Pioneer: LOL yeah it's a PITA but it can be removed it's just easier to pull the motor.
(we have the advantage that we don't have the bulge in the firewall for the Aircon so have more room for a downpipe)

I jumped in to this thread as I'm 99% certain Jon/Siman hasn't gotten around to fitting his yet and I had a bunch of pics here from the last few weeks.

I can't buy the raw 321 materials for what the Header cost me landed here in Australia and since they changed to the thicker material it should be plenty strong enough.
