So I'm thinking about new paint this winter. My '90 Turbo is red, and it's not my favorite. I'd like to change the color, but I don't want a half-a$$ed job and since I won't be pulling the motor to do the engine bay that's the way it would end up.

I absolutely love the dark graphite grey, soooo I was wondering how it would look to two tone it, repainting the top in the original red and and maybe the graphite grey on the bottom. The hood center ridge could even match the grey on the lower half of the car if that isn't getting too carried away.

That way the engine bay could just be touched up, I could get something more than the red I'm just okay with, and it wouldn't end up being a half-a$$ed job. I hope. If anybody has any other ideas on a contrasting color, feel free to Shop that too. I'm wide open to ideas! Oh yeah, and the pin stripe will be history. For whatever it's worth a rep point for helping me out.

Here's my car:

Ouch! Kurt watch out your car will turn into a probe if you go two tone! LOL

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Anything but a probe!

I really hope to do something tasteful, but slightly different, and NOT ricey. If this approach is tacky, let me know. I'm just doing the early thinking on it.

Here's a link to the color I was thinking of: http://www.supramania.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=925&d=1118861674

Somebody has an absolutely BEAUTIFUL picture of the grey I'm talking about, but I can't find it. Car's sitting on a beach right in front of the ocean. Wish I could find it.

Thanks Yellow! Rep given.

Well, I don't know what to think. I wasn't majorly impressed right off, but it grew on me over a minute or so. I'll come back later and give it another look.

I think the pin stripe really hurts the look. Can that be taken out?

What do you guys think?

Me thinks me likey! :biggrinbo

Feel free to discuss. I'd like some thoughts on how this looks and/or what might look better. How about some input from the "oldschool" guys?

So am I right that I could get by without painting the bay? What about repainting the door jambs and other recessed areas in the original red and only painting the exterior in the grey?

I think you must be smoking crack.................:3d_frown:
You have a dead sexy car, if you take the pinstripe off. I LOVE the red with grey moulding. Ordinarily I wouldn't have said you were on crack, but you did ask. I'm just not a big fan of the two tone. I know I just pissed someone off, but I didn't mean too. Do what you want, but I would leave it like it is. A new shiny red would make it look awesome............lol

No hard feelings here. That is exactly why I asked. I asked around work too, and it's an amazing split. I would've thought yea or nea for the most part.
