xarewhyayen;1083894 said:hey i know you're new, and youre trying to figure out what you need to do to reach your goals. Here's my suggestion. Learn by experience. Drive the car as is and fix it up little by little as you can. As you have time and money, do small mods in steps by researching as you go. Learn the motor and the car in and out as many of us have by 1. working on it, and 2. spending a lot of time here on the forums reading about what other people are doing/have done. These are old cars and are very finnicky, but they can be pretty damn fast. They're still REALLY fun to own and drive at moderate power levels.
Owning this car and making it something really fast will take alot of time, money, patience, planning, and research. I know your intent is to learn, but 1 thread you made isnt gonna do much at all. Spend some time here and learn as you go. No person on this site has taken a supra from nothing to a reliable and very fast and powerful car in just a couple months with like 3000-5000 bucks. It just wont happen.
We'd all like you to have a great car, but dont rush it.
You know youre a noob, we know youre a noob. Only way to solve it is to learn and denoobify yourself.
Good luck,
-Ryan

hammerhead;1084008 said:what he said, and from personal experience.. When I first changed from Civic to Supra, I asked some of the same questions, and soon started to get a headache cuz of all the different angles to the polygon.
My suggestion:
rebuild engine with metal head gasket, and then slowly mod your bolt-ons, like fuel, AFM, intake, exhaust, maybe boost controller. while ur beating the engine, read as much as u can and spend a lot of time on this forum. then after a few years when the engine blows, your ready to shoot for your goals.. and u'll be surprised how fast your supra will be as is.
Thats what I did, and after two rebuilds, now I'm finally shooting for high HP.
well, sorry for the long rant. just thought xarewhyayen really hit the spot.

Hams supra was 6XX HP and on Nitto NT555's his car ran 13's.
Slicks or go home, son.

No offence, but ask someone like IJ that's had cars that WILL try to kill you if you're not paying attention....
IJ.;1084092 said:It means your previous post was so chockfullobullshit I don't know where to start....
It's all romantic and tough to say "I plan to die in my car" but seriously grow up it's fucking idiotic.
The reality would be you may not actually die and suffer a life time of pain and misery, ask how I know this...
suprastroker88;1083650 said:Like i said. Im learning. You cant find the answers without asking questions.
Wouldnt it be smarter to drop a 7mgte if I dont know everything about the motor I have now? Then at least I know everything thats in the car. Im pretty much just trying to start out fresh. The engines got shit going on and the transmission is kinda messed so if I drop a new engine and transmission, then itll eliminate all the problems, right?
supramang;1084100 said:mmmmmmmm dont you wish!! lol! I decided to buy a turbo car and i robbed the motor and r154 out of it and put it in my n/a car and you will find that for the first few weeks you will discover all kinds of little bugs. These cars are old and in order to mod them out your gonna need to have them in proper working order.
