I'm very interested to see how far this set up gets you.

I'm trying to make some decent power without complicating my setup too much with really expensive fuel systems, enginge managements, clutchs, etc...

Seems like you're doing the same right now.

I'm keeping my eye on your thread, Clint's, and a few other upgraded JZs.

I've been looking at an HKS fuel rail and Greddy injectors... It's getting a little expensive. :(

I've been looking around at used 700-800cc injectors, and there are a few going around for < $450, flow-tested with paperwork. Like-new used parts FTW! All I need is that and a fuel rail, and I can get the Aeromotive AFPR and SS AN plumbing from work.

First thing is first, though. Get it finished and tuned for what I've got. I can probaby hit a hair over 400whp with current mods, a boost controller, and something to tune the beast. Then after everything is perfect, I'll worry about asking it for more.

Sounds like my short term goal. gimme 400hp on pump and I'll be happy. Then worry about more power later.

Exactly! 400whp on pump (CA shit gas) should be a walk in the park for both of our setups. If I'm correct, though, that should only be barely stretching my turbo's legs. :D If your turbos are as efficient as they are supposed to be, there should be plenty left.

Once we're both comfortably tuned with a little more work done (probably 14-15psi for me will be topping out the stock injectors.), we should have a track day.

400 is definately only starting to tap the potential but I'm not baller and I can't afford to optimize everything on my setup.

I hadn't planned on dragging the car, honestly. I may once or twice but I just enjoy driving the car. To work, to pick up groceries, to mcdonalds, whatever. Plus, I don't have a second car/Supra like you. I don't wanna break shit and be assed out. :]

If I blow an engine, I'm out. [seriously]

Not that I think it will happen. I already learned my lesson about that.

It is a completely different game when it's your only car. If I break something, it sucks, but I'm not out my transportation.

My car won't be a drag car either. I'm more interested in a car that performs well in all aspects, and I intend to modify the suspension in ways that will get me better performance in the twisties/road courses that I intend to race against my 240SX buddies on. Work such as that will hurt my quarter mile performance. Eventually I still want to be comfortably into the 11's on slicks, though, so that my Camaro buddies don't get too full of themselves. :D

Later
BJ

Send me $300, your original MKIII harness, and your Aristo harness, and I'll do it. Well, not really... I would but I'm going back to school next week and I won't have the time to sit over a table and solder wires together for hours. :(

I like very much! You wanna play with my Cressida and Aristo harness for alil bit? ;)

When I was wiring my 7M-GTE into my Cressida a few months ago, I managed to mess up with the wiring somewhere so when I'm under boost my horn would honk :evil2:

Corrected anyway ;) BTW, some how my O/D light acts as a shift light LOL.

I'm loven your setup. I'll drop a 2JZ single turbo in my Supra the same way you did yours. Keep on motivating me :naughty:

I became unlazy enough today to pull my gauge cluster and swap my factory boost gauge for a volt-meter since yesterday I installed my -30 to +30 mechanical boost/vac gauge. It was easy enough.

Poor Supra. :(

The one closest is my original 91T cluster, and the other is a 90 N/A cluster that will be donating the volt-meter.

Volt-meter out!
p730908_3.jpg

I remember reading in the past that the volt-meter was a direct replacement for the factory boost guage, like all that needed to be done was pop the old one out and put the volt-meter in. Not so. The boost guage has this control box mounted at the back of the cluster that sends the signals to the boost gauge (white and yellow wires). This must be removed.
p730908_4.jpg

The printed circuit board was also slightly different. The positive signal to the guage was unchanged but the ground circuit was different, and I had to add my own. (Green wire)

And the finish product!

My Lotek pillar pods:

(Needs more gauges, I know...)

And here she sits in her ugliness... I know my sawblades are backwards. :) Someday it will be painted, but performance first!

A revision to previous statements:
I thought my stock boost gauge was lying to me, but apparently it was being accurate when telling me that I was only making 5-6psi. I had assumed for how well it pulls and how mean it sounded it was making more. It actually begins to spool just before 3K and makes 5-6psi by 3,500rpm. The wastegate just doesn't really get loud until 4K and up. This is with a 10psi spring on a 50mm wastegate and no boost controller. I'm excited to see the difference a full exhaust makes when it's not breathing through a straw (stock cat and cat-back).

once you get exhaust youll love it man, with my old T61(.84a/r) and my 4" exhaust, i was getting 1.2 bar by 4200-4300 on my car. youll definatley notice the difference once you get full exhaust

Well, no real updates right now as I'm just working out all the bugs and making things pretty. I got a full 3" exhaust on it, and the difference is night and day! I haven't had it to the track yet, so all I've really been able to do is guess as to what the performance is like, but tonight I got a little helper in judging the effectiveness of my build, even at wastegate boost. My friend and I were out playing with the car because I just got some good tires on it for the first time since the swap, and I wanted to see what it could do fully opened up. Getting on to the freeway we found ourselves a brand new '07 Mustang GT. Got up next to him, spooled the turbo, let off making some noise, and then gunned it ahead. We slowed down to let him pass us and he was going pretty quick when he did. After he passed he slowed down. We match his speed down to 60mph and then he downshifted and hit it. He pulled ahead for about as long as it took for the turbo to spool at half way through 3rd gear. By half way through 4th gear he was seeing tail lights. So I spanked an '07 Mustang GT at 8.5psi... 18psi is going to be fun!
