Ok guys, this is build-up thread round 2! I started one on SF (SF thread) back in August of last year when I began this project, but it got sloppy and I kept changing my mind. Then when I went back to school in January, I had to put the things on hold, but as of last week, I'm back to work on it with a goal of having it on the road early next month.

Mod list by completion:

Engine/drivetrain
-Aristo 2JZ-GTE with MAP ECU and 7M oil pressure sender to retain factory oil guage functionality
-Walbro fuel pump
-T04R turbocharger with .81 A/R hotside
-Ebay SS T4 manifold
-50mm HKS replica wastegate (11psi spring)
-Full 3" v-band downpipe => custom 3" exhaust
-12x24x3" FMIC with custom hardpipes
-Super Sequential BOV
-Manual conversion to an R154 transmission, 1pc. driveshaft

Electronics/tuning
-AEM guage type boost controller and wideband o2
-Greddy Emanage/AEM standalone (Undecided on final power goals)
-Greddy full auto timer
-Battery relocation w/ Odyssey dry-cell battery

Suspension/brakes
-Intrax lowering springs (possible upgrade to Tokico TEMS compatible shocks or TEIN flex coilovers w/ EDFC)
-Brembo rotors
-Ceramic kevlar pads

Interior
-Titan harness bar
-Sparco/Recaro seats (maybe)

And since the car does have minor body damage, after I'm done with all the other stuff, it will be getting a fresh coat of pearl white.

Here's how she looked when I got her:

Here's some pics of what I've done so far (These pics are in reverse order, so the first ones are the newest:

I'm still working on the wiring which is all I have left before I can fire it up. I still need to finish the exhaust, cooling system, and IC piping before it's on the road. Then after all that is done, I need to clean the engine bay!

I finished extending the ECU wires before work and ran out of wire. In the morning I'll be starting on the body plugs. I'll hopefully have it most of the way done before I work tomorrow night.

I finished the wiring harness a few days ago and then dropped it in yesterday.

^^^ Body plugs all wired up, excludinga few wires that I had to finish once it was in the car.

As of 10:30 tonight (two hours ago) IT RUNS!!!

Update time!

7/24/2007:

I figured that I should probably post pics of the IC installed or nobody would believe that I was actually working on it. It's a 12x24x3" core with 3" inlet/outlet, which is the largest IC that I could fit without removing the hood latch support or crash bar. It BARELY fits! I was going to paint it black, but it's not as visible as I thought it would be behind the bumper.

Yeah, the top is held up with strings until I make myself some upper brackets. The bottom is securely mounted, but I may end up redoing that too eventually to make it as secure as possible.

I love the way FMIC's look. :D

Piping for the IC, which I'll be getting to work on once my couplers and clamps arrive tomorrow.

Almost done!

It's done!

Sorta... I finally got it all put together a couple hours ago and took it around the block and parked it for a few hours while i fixed my exhaust and installed the front bumper. Then I took it about 10 miles to town and back. I stopped at my friends house on the way back and found a small coolant leak. I couldn't fix it, but I topped it off and headed straight home. Just down the road from my house, I gave it a decent romp and spooled the turbo up. The wastegate had been working fine all night but this time it opened and never closed again. So now it's back in the driveway with a tiny coolant leak, and I need to figure out why the wastegate won't close. :( But hey, it runs like a champ! pics later.

8/10/2007:

Coolant leak fixed, and the wastegate never had a problem. I don't know if it wasn't tightened down all the way on to the flange or what, but somehow it moved, and the plunger on the wastegate wasn't sealing against its seat. Loosened the mounting bolts, centered the wastegate, and it works perfect. The coolant leak was a bad bypass cap on the water outlet, capping the lines for the stock twins. I'll be drilling those out and plugging them in the future, but for now a new cap did the trick. Even at only 10 psi with a stock cat-back and a clutch that's still breaking it, it's pretty quick. And TEMS and ABS still work like a charm! I guess I did the wiring right. lol

And today (8/20/2007):

I've put 500 miles on it, and the clutch is broken in. It seemed to take forever! The car runs like a champ and for running only 10psi, it's pretty damn quick! It's on a stock exhaust other than the 3" downpipe, of course, and the spool really isn't too bad. Fully spulled just a hair before 4,000rpms, but it begins to make positive boost about 500-700rpms earlier than that. Once it's got a full 3" exhaust with a high-flow cat or test pipe, I'm sure I'll be very happy with it.

Of course, now that the clutch is broken in and I'm thinking, "Yay! I can have some fun with it!" something has to break. Any of you who know where Forest Hill Rd. is just outside of Auburn know it's a lot of fun to drive in a Supra, and if you don't, go try it! I was coming up the hill past the bridge and decided to use the wonderful passing power of a supra and pulled it hard through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. When I let off it was making some unpleasant noises. I pulled over to hear a nasty clacking sound. I was farely certain that I had broken something bad. Maybe boost spiked and detonated? Melted a piston? Broke a valve? I was too upset to mess with it right there, and it was running well enough that I limped it to work, about 2.5 miles never taking it above 2,000rpm. When I parked it, it was still making noise. It sat for about hours before I went to lunch. I only had to go around the block, so I'm like f&*k it! Let's see what happpens. It started fine and ran quietly. I drove it home after work and parked it. This was about 3 days ago, and this morning was the first chance that I had to mess with it. I was messing with the TPS and throttle adjustment screws trying ti dial in the idle, and it was running just fine, until it got warm and started making that clacking sound again. I'm freaking out because it sounded like really heavy detonation, but what was weird is that it only did it at idle. I'm about to have a breakdown because I don't want to swap or rebuild engines when I see the acc. belt tensioner moving a little with each "clack". I pulled the belt off, which upon inspection was about to shred. Started the engine back up, and no more noise. The tensioner bearing failed! So I'm looking at about $100 to replace the belt and tensioner. It could definately be worse!

However, I'm moving into an apartment with a friend soon and going back to school on the 27th, so $100 is more than I have to spend right now, and to save a little more I pulled the car back off my insurance. So, updates in a little while, and maybe some completed engine bay pics once I button it all back together and get it clean. Vids when it comes back with a real exhaust! I just got a promotion, so the money will be available after I take care of immediate things and pay off some debts.

I was out tinkering and starting my cleaning when the urge to take pictures became too strong, and as much as I had intended to not let anybody see my car in such a sad state, I now have before pics. Trust me, the afters will look much better.

These are from a few weeks ago when I was still working on the IC piping.

All the IC piping finished, harness wrapped, and a small amount of cleaning done...

Finished downpipe, and a midpipe that still needs cleanup work on the welds:

I'll be taking the IC piping and valve covers out for cleaning and painting. Eventually the turbo (hot side), manifold, downpipe and midpipe will be ceramic coated black. Someday it will be clean!

Nice swap man, i am almost there with you but i will be on twins for a while.

You'll enjoy the twins. I sorta wish I would have done that first. It would have cost quite a bit less, but oh well. Now I'm ahead of the game! lol
