Passenger window Idea

I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to buy an extra window control switch with the " auto" option like the one for the drivers side window that allows you to just click it once real quick and the window rolls all the way down. and install it in the slot for the passenger side without altering any wiring.

maybe if you buy a jdm rhd switch and convert it but the thing is the more you use it the faster it wears out. i rarely use mine. it takes wat 5 sec for the window roll down. are your pass that f#$%ing lazy?

I don't remember a rewire tip to do that on any site.

I'm sure it is possible but what would that really get you. The auto up/down would only work from one switch and it would likely be a bit spendy.

Get the express window kit from autoloc (http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autoloc/product.lasso?prodinc=onetouchwindows). Simply add a 12V+ and a ground and then wire this inline with the passenger window motor and you get auto up/down control from BOTH the drivers and passenger window switches. The best part is you don't have to hack anything up. The interior will look completely stock.

At ~$40 plus shipping this is not only the easiest...but likely the least expensive option as well.

I've been running this in my 89 for about the last 10 years and I LOVE it! Both windows have auto up/down at the touch of a button.

I was wondering this myself, just earlier today.

Yes, I am that lazy (if that's what you want to call it). When I drive into the garage, I want to hit both switches and have both windows go down, without me having to hold the passenger switch. While it's going down, I can then turn off my MP3 player, grab my cell phone, grab my woman's breast... whatever. I just don't wanna sit like a dufus, holding the switch for 5+ seconds.

I am def interested in doing this mod, when it's available.

Read my post above - it is available today. All you have to do is read - and pick up the phone.

For $40 + shipping and an hour of your time... you can have this TODAY!

Don't hack up your car to cram an overpriced switch in there that will look out of place only to get auto up/down on just that new switch.

Get auto up/down on both switches for the passenger window for the price of one!

Do the drivers window auto up mod (not a rewire - just clip a tab because apparently us Americans are too stupid to keep our heads out of the way of a window as it rolls up).

Then get this module.

Oh yeah... for those out there that may be too stupid to keep your head out of the way of the window as it rolls up... this module features a load sensor that will stop the window before it does any damage.

easy peasy burger cheezy!

I've got an alarm module (DEI 529T) to close the windows when I arm it, but I believe there's another module which will do the up & down (DEI 530T).

Have not installed anything yet, but am thinking it may be just as easy to put a driver's side switch on the passenger door.

I may get a 530T, which is about $50 and can do the 1-touch up/down for both windows...

Description = The 530T can
automatically roll up two power windows when a
security system is armed, and will provide "one touch"
up and down operation for both factory power window switches. The new programmability now accepts (-)
switch inputs to make interfacing with European style,
rest at ignition window systems simple; and the adjustable sensitivity makes the 530T compatible with most factory power windows systems. Windows can also be vented or rolled down completely by remote control, using an
auxiliary validity channel of a security system.

I used early ford Mondeo window relays, as they are one touch up, So you need too plus an extra resistor inside the relay to match in with the supra window motor resistance.

Not 100% sure you got that model. But google mk1 ford mondeo to see the model shape.

link to website with wiring dirgram on. its under the mods section

Have you seen the drivers side switch before? It is actually two switches built into one.

So you're going to buy a dual switch unit to hack it up, and risk completely breaking it, to give the passenger auto up/down control but you still won't have that control over the passenger window from the drivers side?

Or are you going to hack up two drivers side switches to make the passenger window have auto up/down from the drivers side only?

Have you priced those switches?

Make things harder than it needs to be if you like... but the answer is staring you in the face in the posts above.

Thanks, I know that the switches are very different... Goingto get/install the 530T. Integrates with my alarm and has some other features I'd like. Was speaking more ofr simplicity of just replacing the switch. Dunno how much hacking up would be necessary, but the alarm module will be more than adequate.

Rough-installed the DEI 530T window up/down module today. Meaning I haven't hidden/fastened things up yet.

One-touch for up and down of both sides is nice. I am definitely gonna like the features.

The only issue is that when I use the alarm to close the windows on "arm," the driver's side won't close all the stay and stops at halfway. Windows are usually up anyways, 'cause of how hot it is. Not a big deal yet, but gonna troubleshoot later.

Changed the resistance on the module, for the driver's side window and works perfectly now.

So, this is the way to go. It allows you to vent, auto-up/down for both windows, etc. It interfaces well with my DEI alarm, but only needs a couple of signals from the alarm, so may be easily used with other aftermarket alarms. Just uses the "Ground while armed," and an AUX signal wires (2 connections).

I used the "Type B" diagram to wire the driver's side and then did the same for the passenger door. However, I ended up having to reverse the up/down wires for the motor on the passenger side. Before, the window would go the opposite direction of what you pressed on the switch. I assume because of the stock window module/controls.

basically run 4 wires into each door. I used 14 gauge for all of them, but you only need 2 of 'em in each door (for the motor connections) and the other 2 (for the switch connections) can be maybe 18 guage.

About $48 shipped off of Ebay.

Yep... Seems like there are a few options for modules that are available, with similar features at about the same cost. No auto/one-touch down mod for the passenger window available yet, without using these types of aftermarket/add-on modules.

Now I have an extra 529T (up/down for 1 window, or 1 direction for both)... hmmmm what crazy mod can I use it for?

Yea I have the 530T. I love it. The only thing about it is that the window lock doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure what I did wrong. Still works fine. I don't ususally use the window lock anyway. Another thing is that if I don't want to roll the windows up and lock the car I can't do it. Everytime I lock the car it rolls the windows up. I haven't had time to troubleshoot those two problems. I'm trying to get other things working in my car.

Aggggghhhh.... having an issue too.

Spoke too soon. The passenger window will not work from either switch, with the key in the ignition. However once the key is removed, it moves as it should (up or down). When I arm the alarm the windows roll up as they should.

So, now I'm worried that even with the key out, there's still 1.5V going to the window at rest (potentially draining the battery). Also defeats the security system, 'cause someone could possibly stick something into the car and push the switch and window go down (easy access).

Double check your power source and check if your ground is good. You can also call up DEI and a tech will walk you through it. That's what I did cause I was also having problems. I had my motor and switch wires crossed. Tripple check those.

Tried to register on the DirectTech site, but you have to be an "installer." Dang it... was hoping to finish it tonight and tuck the module/wiring away tomorrow.
