Ok recently i changed the headgasket the thermostat put in a brand new fanclutch and it was running fine until until the next day it started to overheat, its fine when its on idle but when it gets warmed up and i start running it the temperature starts going up, then i put it in neutral and let the rpm go back down to idle and it goes back down to normal slowly. do yall have any idea what this might be? People tell me it might be that because i used the same head bolts the mechanic that changed the head gasket didn't tighten them enough. Let me know what yall think about this. thanks

Marvin

That sounds like a stuck thermostat ;)
Yes, I know it's new...had one do it to me. What brand thermostat did you install?

This assumes the HG was installed correctly and torqued down to ~75 ft/lbs.

You should ask your mechanic what did he torque the head blots down to.

Yeah you should ;)

The only thermostats I would use are Toyota or a Stant SuperStat.

U know around how much those thermostats cost? And i will ask the mechanic how much he tightened them cuz isn't factory 52 lbs?? i think he torqued them down 10 or 15 lbs more im not sure but ill ask him.

I beleive Stock head bolt stretch and bottom out before they tighten the head and i heard that you should not reuse them ,I could be wrong though. If you do get in to taking the head off get yourself some arp head studs touque them to 80 ft lbs

Well another idea for you could be the radiator. I did my headgasket, thermostat, new upper/lower hoses, made sure all hoses were clean of debris, fan clutch, 10 blade fan and it still overheated. Then I replaced my radiator and the overheating problem was fixed. I just bought a used stock one and it was fine. Mine must have been plugged up or something.

well another thing is that when it gets warmed up and i accelerate it will lagg. It gets a little jumpy so im thinking its most likely the headgasket i doubt its the radiator. But ill see what the mechanic tells me about how much he torqued down the headbolts and i probably will consider ARP's if anyone has any let me know also.

got a set of used arp studs. $70 shipped if your interested.

That's a great offer guys. Assuming there are no damage to them and they were never overtorqued, then they ARE better than a new set of studs. Reason being, you will never have to retorque them ;).
