Mmm like Christmas day:). New OEM evaporator and condenser. The 86.5 evap was no longer available so I took the risk and bought the 88 version, which appears to be exactly the same fitment wise. Looks like they changed the material to different aluminum or something (new one is silver, old one is a goldish color. I was planning on using the parallel flow condenser, which is still on order. It seems it is just going to take too long to get here, and I was a little worried about fitment because it is manufactured for an 87+ supra which has the drier on the other side of the condenser and a few changes as far as lines etc. OEM condenser will stay boxed until I am sure I want to use it.

If it was Christmas you wouldn't need it :icon_razz

I'm impressed though. I bet that was some coin...

Good point. Unfortunately my heater core decided to take a piss on my carpet about 2 weeks ago, so even if it was Christmas I would still be screwed. :p

Time for more show off:naughty:

I even went as far as insulating as much of the suction line as possible, including the section that goes past the exhaust. Trying to get every ounce of cooling out of this thing.

One thing I also did is block the gap underneath the condenser in order to avoid air flowing around it...but I am not 100% sure if i should. Was this gap put in there by design or am I fine blocking it off?

The system is together and is currently on the vacuum pump. Garage is nice and hot, should help get rid of any moisture left in there. Going to let it go for a while. Pulled down to 29" rather quickly.

Funny how Toyota sometimes doesn't paint replacement parts.

I thought something was between the bulb and the line but after looking at the blown up photo I see that isn't the case. My bad.

I don't remember...is that where is normally goes or is it supposed to be closer to the evap outlet? And you insulated it well, right?

Stop scaring me JJ you had me thinking this evap box was coming out again :icon_bigg

That's where the bulb goes. There is an indentation in the suction line right there for the bulb to sit in, and that's where it was the first time I pulled the evap, still had the original foam insulation. I insulated it very well this time with "Prestite" cork tape. I believe they call it dum dum tape, stuff is like tar.

Got it charged up today! Wasn't expecting much but man this thing is about the same as it was lol. Still takes a long time to get cold and still doesn't get that cold. When I went to pay, the tech reported 40 PSI low side and 210 PSI high side with 62 degree vent temp. I told the cashier that the low side pressure seemed high and that spec was about 20-28 PSI and he said its because it is hot outside (was only about 100) and continued to tell me how much stuff there is blocking the condenser (all factory stuff, besides the intercooler). He said to try it out and if they need to add or remove refrigerant they would do it free.

On the highway with blower on high and recirc I never saw anything below 50 deg at the vents, 45 deg on med blower on the highway. Coming to an idle and temps rise slowly, staying steady around 60 deg. This is when the perspiration starts...first a drop from the pits, then a drop from the corner of my eye  lol.

No bubbles in the sight glass, it looked like solid liquid to me. The heater is not even hooked up, so it can't be mixing heated air. I have my glove box out and I can visually see the recirculation door open all the way when switching to recirculation. Next time I will try to go out and see if the suction line is cold or sweating.

It isn't the recirc I'm thinking about but if the heater core isn't hooked up I guess it wouldn't matter. Do you see foam in the glass just after the AC is tuned off?

With that low side the evap would be about 45 F. Factor in a typical 10 degree drop across it and it's no wonder you're seeing those vent temps.
