I totally agree w/ you supramacist on the no intrest of nos or turbo. Do you know where I can get a cold air intake kit? The only one that I have seen is the 2k racing one and K&N Fipk. Does any one have a picture of the K&N Fipk on there car? I want to know how long it is, does the cone filter go by the pass. head lght?

I have seen these on the cars and they are solid looking but as for being by the air hole....., not. They seem to be short to me. But in all best interests is and or are probably the way to go. I am thinking of just taking a dremel to the stock container. I think if you cut it open and remove the oval shaped tube, I'll be good. I noticed an increase after just removing the oval shaped tube.

Matter of fact if you run a search, you can probably come up with all of the pics and posts revolving around the fipk....., As if it's never been discussed in here before:icon_bigg

Cool, will do. I want to have the cone filter about where the stock circle filter is. Another couple of quick questions, would it be a good idea to get new fuel injectors or just clean the old ones? How much are new stock injectors? Also, can I use valve springs from a stock turbo motor just as extra insurance against valve float?

the valve springs in both motors are identical, there would be zero benifit by using those. And your best bet would probably be to go and get the injectors cleaned and flow tested, itd definitely be cheaper than getting a whole new set of injectors. But with all the detergents they place in modern gasoline Id be quite suprised if any of them were clogged.

Be extremely carefull with your injectors. They are high dollar parts. They are with my guesstimate easily over 100$ a piece. As far as the cone shaped filter...., Try to get the one where the center is open and not capped. The fipk may not be the cold air intake you want..., especially with adamantcy about it being around the air hole. We are thinking about getting the filter all the way down under the headlight. Then running our tubing to the piece behind the stocker filter container.

You do know that for 2 grand you could pull off a GTE swap off right? If your just looking for better response then you should do all the regular NA mods (intake header exhaust cams). Beyond that the only way you will able to get some nice power out of it is to go forced induction in some way, whether it is nitrous or turbo.

And you dont really need forged internals in order to turbo the NA block. Our pistons are made of the same material as the turbo car's, so they should be capable of supporting the same amt of power as the turbo. You just have to be much more attentive when tuning the car since the hi-compression makes your margin of error smaller.
Seriously. Not everyone has the option of swapping for this and that. Some of us live in the fascist state of California.:icon_evil

That was my plan with cold air intake. Have the new filter as close to the headlight duct as possiable and run a hose or tube down behind the fog light some where. Does any one know what kit would let me do this? Just the intake pipe that would come close to the length of the stock accordian hose.

I thought it was legal to swap an engine in any state as long as it is a motor that is newer than what came in the car. Eh I dunno, between CA being strict as hell and FL being the complete opposite, its just crazy.

also, if ur just lookin for response beyond the rebuild, look into different pullies, better ground wires, bigger spark plug wires, electric fans, electric water pump, just anything to take unneeded stress off the motor... the intake you speak of was exactly what i was gunna do before my turbo swap.. but i was just gunna buy 2.5in piping and make my own.. ask an exhaust shop, some will do stuff like that for pretty cheap

I'm too lazy to look for it and link it right now but there was just recently a thread about na supra air intakes. A few people had pics of using cheap air intake tubes for honda civics and preludes, just trimmed to fit (i've seen some no name chinese crap on ebay for like $15). Why not get two and use one in front of the afm to stick the filter thru the rad support and out behind the bumper/grill? Just an idea. Don't know how much trimming involved there.

But as far improving throttle response, don't forget your drivetrain mass. Get an aluminum flywheel and replace the two-piece-heavy-as-hell driveshaft with a onepiece aluminum or carbon$fiber. I just got a quote of "about $300" to build an aluminum one. As well as lighter wheels. And strip that interior!

I'm not going to strip the int ( I live in Colorado, the winters get cold! Plus I want my car to look pretty close to stock) but the a/c and TEMS are going. Also ad in new lighter suspension, rims, driveshaft etc.
