So I am going to have a motor rebuild hopefully this month. It will cost me about 1,200-1,500 for a full rebuild. I have over 2,000 saved up so far. I wanted to see what my options were for power adders w/ the remaining 500-700. I can match ports at home. The guy that will rebuild it said that he might be able to "hot rod" the motor for a little extra. I am not looking to push huge amounts of horse power, just better acceleration. Any suggestions?

Is this a stock rebuild or is it going to have forged internals
This topic is worn out, weither or not he has forged internals hes still isnt going to get a whole lot of HP out of the NA engine.
dont spend your money on a rebuild if your trying to get power.
Just my $0.09
take it as you will.

I believe it will be a stock rebuild. He said that he might be able to get a hold of some more aggressive cams but that is as much as I know for know.

I was gonna say boost it ;)

Thats my reason for asking if it was a stock or forged rebuild

I am rebuilding only the top half of my engine myself and it is going to cost all of a grand. How are you rebuilding the whole engine for that and another 500$ With the machine work that has to be done???? It just sounds off to me, and I have researched it.

He's right. A rebuild, cost me, $2300. It's a lot of labor.

Hey rot 90na-t, where'd that pic of the individual throttle bodies come from? Your car? I didn't know if this setup was available for a 7m or where from. That'd be my goal for a na 7m, 9k rpm with individual throttle bodies!

I would also go individual throttle bodies......., I should research this thing. You can tell it's not inexpensive but I'm not unhappy with my fuel injection....., but based on old school neo traditionalisms, I would think the old school hot rod look and feel, is great. Everyones just going to be saying your'e trying to look.., "not rice". Like I give a shizzle, drizzle.

no not my car , but im pretty sure the guy used the throttle bodies off a 20v 4A-GE and adapted them to the stock intake plenum.. ive seen a few fairly similar.. i honestly dont remember where i found that pic, definitely love the looks of that and cant imagine how pretty it must sound:love:

i just did a rings and bearings and Felpro HG my self and it was only like $210, and if your N/A, thats all you need. new rods and pistons aren't going to give you any more HP and they don't need to be forged, just make sure everything is up to par.

I noticed a big difference in performance after my rebuild. just chang the things that make a difference.

You do know that for 2 grand you could pull off a GTE swap off right? If your just looking for better response then you should do all the regular NA mods (intake header exhaust cams). Beyond that the only way you will able to get some nice power out of it is to go forced induction in some way, whether it is nitrous or turbo.

And you dont really need forged internals in order to turbo the NA block. Our pistons are made of the same material as the turbo car's, so they should be capable of supporting the same amt of power as the turbo. You just have to be much more attentive when tuning the car since the hi-compression makes your margin of error smaller.

I am definitley not underestimating the task at hand. I am just going to do as complete a total rebuild as I possibley can from the HG up. I personally have no interest in turbo mods or nos. But I will be doing the cold air induction. I already have the exhaust covered. I am replacing the alternator the water pump wich Joel W. pointed out was shot....., and I just didn't want to believe it. Everything. It's just that time for the car I think. As soon as I fix it..., It breaks down 3 or 4 days later with something new to fix....., but hey, You hafta Love this shiat.
