Opinions on Reverse clip turbine

I recently had a p-trim that was laying around my shop that had bent fins on just the inducer(from foreign object damage). When I was at my builder I saw an oem turbo off a diesel I think that had this weird "reverse clipping".

Apparently they came Casted like that to improve spool? I'll get more information on that turbo.

Anyway, I figured instead I trashing the p-trim I did a reverse clip like it. Hopefully this will increase spool? Not really to sure about it. Haven't found any information on it. My builder said a lot of the new GT wheels come like this.

by reverse clipping you just mean that the turbine is a lot smaller then the compressor? I always thought it was the other way around. a big turbine with a small compressor made faster spool. I definitely could be wrong though. why don't you talk to your builder about it, I'm sure he knows better then most.

No I'm talking specifically about just the turbine.

Usually a "clipped" turbine is clipped at an angle on the Exducer. Reducing spool, but gaining flow.

This wheel was clipped on the inducer.

Normal clip:

I talked to him, he said it lets it spool faster.

Don't let any of the variables change.

Perfect ideal setup:
Let's say you have a T4 60-1 same housings, same AR.
You take out the turbine and do a normal clip. You will loose a little spool, but gain flow.

Same scenario, but you do this " reverse clip" instead. What would you achieve?

You gain spool ofcourse. It helps but not by that much.

I'd guess it has a lower PMoI so response "should" be a little snappier but losing that amount of surface area is going to be a juggling act with turbine AR.
