Well I realized after purchasing many parts for my SC400 TT project, I will need a daily driver... After a few months of searching for something that struck my interest, I bought an MK3 for the cost of a Lexus Oil Change...

Well after getting it back to my place, I thought about where to go with it... I had 3 choices... 7m, 2jz, 1uz...

Being familiar with the 1uz, I am going this route over the other choices. Here is a picture of my 1uzfe W58 (soon to be R154) SC400...

=============

So my plans for this 88 MK3 is to make it into a 1uzfe/W58 daily driver as soon as possible.

Here are some pictures of the current state... whatever has been done is by the original (7-10 owners) lol.

Looks good the shell looks decent, do you have the engine for it yet?

Have not gotten an engine yet... I just towed the car to my place 2 days ago lol.

Shell is straight, a few little dings, paint minus bumpers is a 8/10... The bumpers just feel flat... I guess its 20 year old paint on plastic. Needs a few things on the outside...

Found an engine for the car... should be picking it up next week after I go to NY.

Started to get rid of the junk in the engine bay.. like the ABS today :) Need to make new brake lines and such.

Did my research for the wiring, should be no issue. Going to fab the mounts up soon because I need a place to store the engine... aka the engine bay.

I did find a cool bonus, the car had Intrax springs all around and 2 front Tokico adjustables shocks, but OEM rears, weird.

Ill post some pics tommorow after junk yard hunting.

Picked up a JVTR radiator from one of the past owners for $100.. plus I got a little history on the car :).

Also picked up 2 Crown Victoria wheels... Should be some nice meshies for very cheap. Like I said, this is my budget build... but I cannot roll on steelies...

What's the width/offset on those wheels? Clever use of otherwise worthless Ford parts :) I may have to rock a set of those on my Toyota pickup

Check out my website for the SC. www.mysoarer.com as well as the blog I posted in the first post for my updates on it.

It has the 89+ moldings? did not know that.

I did some very bad photo shopping with the wheels on the car... Stock silver finish, gunmetal, gold, bronze and purple for fun... Really dont think I can go wrong with any... purple is sick :naughty:

I think I love the gold.

Cant go wrong with Gold AND Purple.... Vikings colors!

Seriously though, I like the gold version the best, but all of the colors look great... tough choice

Not bad, how much did you pick it up for..?

Looks like you have an 89+ steering wheel, and 89+ seats...

you should go with an 89+ climate control while you're at it, same with the rocker switches on the left, especially now that you wont need the pre 89 cruise activation switch...

you can also do little things here and there, like using a 1989 (90+ clusters wont work in pre 89's) cluster, those have less lines, have the orange parts of the needles removed, and the speedo goes up to 160 mph, and it's NOT just the face of the speedo. 89+'s got different door pulls, window switches, and speaker covers.

on your driver's side, it looks like the 89+ molding is only on the front markers, and the rear. If you look at the trim in between your door and wheel well, it's flat and it's semi clear. That is pre 89 molding. Pre 89 molding looks nice once painted, however it's backed by metal that tends to rust. 89+ trim is lighter as it's fully plastic, and I personally believe it looks better. 89/90 molding comes in gray, blue, and painted white for white-packages (maybe painted brown too, but that was only 1 year, I believe). 91/92 molding looks identical to 89/90 molding, except it's color is matched to the body alot better.

Those crown vic rims look good, I was thinking of picking up some Lincoln Mark Vii meshies

I know they're 16x7 as well, but I didn't know what the offset was. Might try it now, as the crown vics are looking good..!

Nice, this build has the same mentality as mine. 1UZ daily driver Supra, do you plan on running AC? Or any other amenities?

I'm trying to keep everything factory functioning and looking as possible on mine, from what I have seen on the 1UZ, the AC lines won’t work from the Supra chassis, mostly because where they run. They look like they would hit the exhaust manifold, have you looked into this?

When you get your engine mounts fabbed up, please post them up. I have a few ideas on what I'm going to do, but other imput is nice to have.

Good luck.

A little picture action for you guys and gals.

I got some 225/50/16 tires mounted on 2 of the wheels to see how it looks. I like it, a little boxy, but it works. Obviously since the front is jacked up sky high, the wheel will sit outside with its low offset. If its anything like my SC400, it will camber in nicely when it has the weight of the engine again. The rears are perfect. Just gotta get some another set of 2 for the other side... or I can take the 205's that are on the steelies now and mount them.. what to do what to do...

Mocked up my extra SC400 LCAs, Hubs/Spindle, and 2 piston brakes...

Not only will I have 2 piston brakes, I will have a little better steering angle!

Bad pics but it isnt final yet either. Nothing is tightened down as you can see... Plus I still need to make some little modifications to it. I plan on pulling it off and sandblasting and repainting it all.

Nice, do the rim sit like it was factory, center of wheel well?

Fits perfect. Gotten modify a few things and tighten it down. If I can more angle by modding the spindle, I will do it. I want it so close to hitting the arms haha.

What is nice about this vs the MK3 stock stuff is that you have the chance to get more angle because there is less interference on lock to lock turns.
