Open DP

hey i was just wondering if it would be bad to run just an open downpipe??

Cause heres the thing...i just got a new 3" DP but dont quite have enough for the rest of the exhaust and i was wondering if it would be bad if i just ran the dp.

Oh and if any of the members from hawaii could help me also.

Is muffler man just as good as exhaust systems hawaii?? cause they wayyy cheaper so i thought that maybe there might be junker with kinks and stuff

Not really bad for the car, its just going be really hot under the passenger seat

No ill effects to the car though, its just EXTREMELY loud, i shit you not the cars exhaust will drown out semi's, decel it will sound like a semi engine braking.

I am currently, and it's pretty loud. I have earplugs avaliable to my passengers, but no one has worn them lol not even my mom or my girl. It's way louder then normal but you kind of get used to it.
I haven't been pulled over or anything, but then I don't live in a city and cops aren't to anal around here.

would i like need a lift and do i need to pull the turbo?

and also how is it held on if you run just open dp cause theres no hangers or anything. is there supposed to?

i ran an open turbo elbow for a few weeks because i couldnt get a gasket. it was realy loud, i compared it to sounding like a muscle car with a turbo. i woulda kept is like that if i wasnt afraid something would fly up in the turbo and destroy it.

a lift would be ideal for install. and if you need hangers, usually you can get someone to weld a few on

Ive was running an open downpipe for about 2 months. Its sounds really loud, and sometimes my I would get headaches.

Just put the stock exhaust back on with your new dp until you can get the rest finished.

I wouldn't drive the car anywhere but straight to an exhaust shop with open dp. It's too loud and sounds like garbage.

Supras can be loud by nature with aftermarket exhausts but open dp is on a whole other level of noise and is just unnecessary noise pollution IMO. I would be pissed if one of my neighbors was running a car with open dp constantly.

You should also consider the amount of exhaust gasses that enter the cabin. It's not good to have the exhaust exiting beneath the car.

and as for the neighbor thing i only really care about one neighbor and they're kind of far away so i don think it will bother them to much but my neighbor on the other side has a big ass truck and for some freaking reason that guy will just sit in his truck and rev his engine. He does this about every fucking day. So even after i have the money for my exhaust i was thinking about just running open dp and reving when he starts doing it hahaha.

Oh does anyone have any experience with Rein Hard exhaust from japan??
i was thinking about getting the dual outlet one.
is it worth the money??

I run open DP(stocker), its loud but not that loud to me. I am find with it, and it can be heard far away tho. At WOT it flows jjust right that it doesn't sound load as if you were cruising and i do drown out some semi's but some semi's are quieter then me.

stock DP has a cat in it, so it would quite it down a bit...

electric cutouts work great, the're quite reliable these days, and there are a few out there that are cable driven if you want to do it that way...

I run a DDP though, and I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's loud when i want to to be, but it's also loud when I don't want it to be in a situation where I need to hit boost with stealth... double edged sword...

You may also want to consider noise ordinance depending on where you live, and whether you can get nailed in the ass for having open DP without the rest of the exhaust.

I have currently been running an open downpipe. It can get really loud when your hard on the gas. It may be amplified because of the lacking of an interior but its manageable once you get to cruising speeds. You will most likely also want to find some type of hanger because without it your at risk of causing some damage to your car if the downpipe is just flopping around while driving.

I just got my DDP installed last night at 4am and drove it all today. Really quite loud, my only beef is I ordered mine with the flex section so it makes it hang down pretty low. I'm gonna try to make it to an exhaust shop tomorrow and have piping run to the back of the car, though.

It sucks I can't tell how much quicker it is the roads are soaking wet, 1st-3rd fly to the rev limiter. One benefit, I drove the piss out of it, popped the hood, and the 3000 pipe was ice cold. Before it would burn you to touch it real bad.

Oh yeah, with my turboXS mbc completely shut... I hit 15psi and fuel cut :/
