my oil pressure at idle is about 40psi, and 75-80psi at cruise. the car is running smooth and im not experiencing any other issues. i havent really realized that is was so high until a friend mentioned it at the track the other day. its way above the norm according to the TSRM.
some backround:
during my build last summer i upgraded the oiling system to a full flow system. removed the pressure relief valve/spring, put in a bigger cooler and a thermostat. i installed new oil squirters and a new toyota oil pump (i did not shim the pump). im using redline 5w30 and change oil filters every 3000miles. plan on getting an oil analysis at 5000miles and changing the oil at 10000miles.
currently the plumbing goes like this: oil from engine > dual oil filter mount (wix filter > trasko bypass filter) > oil thermostat > oil cooler > thermostat > back to engine
there wasnt clearance to install the prosport sandwich plate on the block, so i mounted it on the oil filter relocation mount. thats where the oil pressure and oil temp senders are located. i have prosport temp and pressure gauges mounted in the car.
what could cause such high oil pressure in my system?
could the high pressure cause damage to my motor?
what are the chances the gauge is waay off? (i foolishly hope this is the case)
thanks in advance to any advice or input on the matter
