Yer welcome. As with most things tribology is a complex subject and I'm certainly no expert but the fundamentals are a good place to start with any technical discipline. Master them first and the rest comes pretty easy.

Btw, another poster mentioned an old rule of thumb that states 10 psi for every 1000 rpm. It's interesting to note that "old" rule is used by Ferrari to this day for determining optimum oil pressure and it isn't as apples to oranges as it may appear.

Ferrari suggests that rule (rather than mess with the relief valve) so owners can choose an oil that'll give them that pressure. I know a surgeon who has two of the damn things and runs 5-20w year round. It takes that to get the recommended 12 centistokes at 100 C (which translates into10/1000) in that particular engine. Races them too. He's never had a problem. If the science is good enough for those cars it's good enough for mine.
