Oil cooler placement with AC?

Hello,
yesterday I looked where I could place my cooler...
Hopefully my supra will be out soon, but with some shortcuts, for example I won't build a new exhaust now, no replacing of IC pipes or IC.

The new oil system is already started and I won't put back anything of the stock system except for the stock oil cooler if time calls for that.

I couldn't find any good place for it, but then I have not removed the front, IC or oil cooler.

My AC will be in the car for now but I know that I will get lots of room for an cooler if I remove it.
I also don't want to modify my front safety bar.

I have also tried searching for info and pics but can't find anything like I want it.
I might have seen some before in the build section.

If you have some info and/or pics could you post them here or link me to them?
Thanks!

Assuming yours is after market, I sandwiched mine in between the rad and condensor. Works like a charm and my oil cooler is double stacked and fits with a thick mishimoto rad so there is plenty of space there. I ran the lines between the rad and core support near the intake filter, there is a gap there that fits 2 1/2" oil lines perfectly!

Yes, no and no. Unfortunately my iphone is messed up and lost all my pictures, including the ones i REALLY wanted to keep :: angry ::

You can simply undo the rad supports and push it forward towards the engine. Watch out for the fan.

My aftermarket stacked plate from B&M is in the stock location. The core is twice as thick, the length and width are the same for a direct bolt up.

thanks guys I'll have a look between the rad and cond. and see if I can do something otherwise I'll hold on the cooler and just use the stock one with a full flow system.
My cooler is thicker and longer than stock plus I'll be using An-10 all the way.

Depending on the size, you might be able to get away with having it behind the passenger side fog light with an e-fan on the backside of it.

You can also sit it with the stock I/C with a fan on the backside as well. The fan will help to keep cool air flowing through the cooler instead of using pre-heated air from the I/C

Stock cooler won't work with a full flow system.

The concern is the size of the stock cooler versus the volume of oil in the system. An exageration to demonstrate, is trying to put out a 4 alarm fire with a common garden hose.

Exactly, it's not meant for full flow or pressure, so it's either going to reduce flow to the engine or burst. Either way, not good...

how are people going with aftermarket oil coolers mounted in between the IC and the radiator? I was planning on doing this as its a lot easier than squeezing it behind the fog light and I have plenty of room given that I dont run A/C. Just wondering if it's going to significantly effect the cooling effects of the core (being behind the IC) and also the radiator

Here's a pic of mine between the IC and radiator. To hold it in place I used two pieces of bent aluminum bar - one holds it in the top left corner (you can see a bit of it next to the intake hose) and one in the lower right hand corner. I haven't driven it yet this summer due to a large amount of upgrades that I'm doing so I can't comment on it's efficiency in this location.

I used to have one mounted behind the drivers side fog light but I relocated it this summer because I didn't like I how routed my hoses.

I'm guessing that you don't have the AC still in the car? and is that the spearco replica IC?

Another question: Is it possible to get more room between the condenser and IC if the stock IC is changed to the spearco replica?

eraezer, I do have AC but it's a manual so it doesn't have the large 3rd fan in front of the radiator (only auto's have that). The intercooler is a genuine Spearco that I bought back in 2003. I can't speak to the room with another IC but the Spearco does give me a fair amount of room there.

again, there is plenty of room between the rad and condensor, this will allow you to run much less line vs in front of the condesor unless you do some drilling which I for one will not do. Did not notice any change in cooling. Mine is held in with a simple universal install kit with those pull through zip tie type pieces.

I did some simple measuring yesterday and it looks like my oil cooler will fit between the rad and ac condenser and I can route the AN-10 lines under the condenser :)
I will need to remove my rad to confirm this.
Does anyone have the measurements of the area between the rad and condenser?
