Hey all, where have you guys mounted your oil coolers?

Anyone mount directly to radiator? I have two B&M Super coolers 10x11 to mount in front of the radiator (No condenser) and thinking of mounting them actually to the radiator with tie straps.

Anyone mount theres this way or have a different way of mounting the oil cooler in front of the radiator? :1zhelp:

Any reason you need two coolers?

Oil and Tranny, Guess i forgot to mention that haha.

I think im going to just mount it to the radiator, i still have some rubber pieces laying around from when i trimmed the radiator mounts for the mishimoto, ill just stick that between them.

I don't like the look of those tie strap mounting kits. I looked on Jegs and found a few that hold the oil cooler by the pipes on the end with rubber isolators and bolt directly to the body. This method seems more robust. Either way show us pics of what you come up with. I'll be doing this in a few weeks time.

This is what I found.

I tied mine in to my intercooler mount/hood latch mount/radiator crossmember. You can always make some simple brackets out of aluminum bar and mount them that way. Mine ended up extremely rigid, though don't ever want to disassemble it as it took a long time to assemble.

Won't that interfere with the airflow to the rad? :aigo:

I will eventually be ducting the entire front of the car to the radiator opening including a lip under the lower radiator support to guide all the air from under the bumper up into the radiator like how corvettes have the radiator opening in the bottom of the bumper. So im not that much worried about airflow, also the Mishimoto radiator is F'ing HUGE!

Also as Adam said, the condenser would cause similar effect, though i think the fin spacing on the condenser is a little more open as compared to these coolers.

If you don't mind the weight of all the crap then it's not hard to find spots for everything.

I disagree it's DAMN hard finding places for things in a Mk3 due to the small frontal area!

In my UTE I could run a 10" thick IC and still have room for AC and coolers ;)

The only problem i see with the set up is corrosion over time metal to metal contact usually results in such a thing faster then just metal alone, and espcially since they are soft metals. But i mean i have mine right in front of the condensor so it goes rad, ac cond, oil cooler, intercooler and have had no problems with air flow and still get really good cooling. Good luck with this and LOL to the redneck hot tub.
