i bought my car in january for $1k. replaced the tranny... the engine isnt in the best shape... noisy valvetrain... but it doesnt leak oil, doesnt burn oil, doesnt stall, always starts... the only thing is the radiator leaks.. but i have a good one, just waiting til i can get all the coolant hoses and related items changed at the same time.

i love my 7m

I loved my 7M, however, I will say that I've seen more then a few 7m's under 100,000 getting rod knock or having hg issues. There is no doubt toyota made some mistakes, even if generally the problems people have are their own fault.

i honestly cant say i hate anything about my car. I can however say i do hate things that ive done that i wish i wouldn't of.

For instance

1. run straight water rather then taking the time to get Toyota Red & Distilled.
2. Running 17lbs on a CT 60-1 w/ Pump Fuel on a 148k motor (Post RodKnock)
3. Driving my car with a BHG (apparently bad) for 3 weeks
4. Driving my car w/ rod knock and apparently piston slap (Post RodKnock)
5. Not checking the oil and coolant EVERY time i go to drive the car (Post RodKnock)
6. Not taking my time and being organized when doing major projects

Every problem i have had on my car is directly related to some lack of care that i decided to not take when i either got the car or did the head gasket. period. Im usually a stubborn one and won't listen to many ppl i have to learn the hard way.

Ahaha glad I'm not the only one. On the way to the dyno I realized my valve cover gasket reseal wasn't worht a crap. I was spilling all over the road the trip down, it was bad. The dyno guy didn't seem to care that I was coating his floor and my fan was spraying it everywhere (good thing im rwd). I needed 2 qts after I was through.

No complaints here with the 7mge with over 225K. I have had my problems like this is the 3rd head gasket. The other head gaskets were stock, but the last one is a Greddy metal gasket with ARP bolts. I have had the Greddy gasket for over a year. I still love this engine and I have put it through hard testing almost every day.

I never had a reliability concern with my Supra.
Drove it up around VT for a day, 8 or 10 consecutive hours of driving and the only problem was I got a flat, and didn't have my spare
6 cans of fix-a-flat, and something like $5 spent at various air pumps and I was home. The guy at the tire place was a bit pissed when I told him there were ++cans of fix-a-flat in the tire :x

Good thing I love my MKIII.....ahhhhhhhhhh Love my 2JZ. Even while not running, just as reliable as my 7M (prettier tho ;-)
