Well I figured instead of having a million threads about why the 7M sucks...why not centralize it all.

I want to hear all the stories about when you modded your 150k+ mile beaten on and abused 7M and the damn thing just took a nose dive and started breaking.

Post all your hg blowin, bearing spinnin, rod knockin stories RIGHT HERE!

Whine, complain, and blame it all on that worthless POS of an engine 7M!

Have at it!

I bought my car with a bhg...or so one would have thought. Come to pull the motor out and find #6 piston melted. IF the stupid 7m didn't get a BGH to begin with stupid mecanics would never of had to fix it and break both knock sensors and then some dumb ass would have never beaten the shit out of the car with no knock sensors.

yep..all the 7m's fault!

So , you knew there was a problem and ran it anyway?? I guess it woulda happened sooner or later.

No, I checked my oil it was fine. I even put more oil in right before I went to the dyno and the leak was bigger than I thought it was.

get a NA and the thread wouldn't exist. I wonder how much power I can get out of a fully built up NA without the turbo. I mean over bore, pistons, lifters, rods, etc

This should be an entertaining thread.

Well, when I bought my previous 89' back in 00', it had 93k on it. I didn't really know crap about the car, but I knew I needed to always keep the motor a little over full of oil, and to re-torque the head to 72ft-lbs. I did my research before attempting anything with the Mkiii. Also took lesons from the rest of the CTCrew :D After the head re-torqe, I fully bpu'd the car. Apexi intake kit, 3" elbow (from someone, don't remeber who was making them back then), tanabe dp, hk$ 75mm cat-back, added a evc-ez, and added polished mkiv tt wheels as the only exterior mod. I enjoyed 10-12psi daily, and numerous trips to the beach and other out of state trips for the next 2-3 years before I sold it for other financial obligations + moving.

Used nothing but royal purple 10w30 in the summer and 10w40 in the winter -- changed every 1500-1750 miles religiously. I tried not to drive it too much in the winter. Red-line in the tranny, royal purple everywhere else (though i never tried royal purple tranny fluid -- probably the same thing as red-line). Always performed other basic maintenance myself. Always used distilled water and toyota red for coolant. Always kept an eye on the oil pressure guage. Tires always full of air.

Nothing EVER went wrong with the 7m besides the lower radiator hose taking a poop.

I love teh 7m!

Mine is a total POS. I put a 60-1 ct upgrade on it, pushed the boost to 20psi, and the pile of crap only stood up to it for 6 months. I mean, seriously, I'm sure that a JZ series engine would have taken the same abuse forever. And I could have revved the JZ engine further, too! :D

No serious problems here aside from coolant hoses going bad, thermostat going bad, and fixing the previous owners/my mistakes. The actual engine has been good to me. Feels good to look under my car and see clean ground with no leaks, fix them or they'll fix you.

how did you ever put up with that complete pile of dog dropping?
I dunno, but I'm STILL putting up with it. I'm so afraid that it's going to break that I hardly ever drive it... just to and from work every day, and up to the mountains to ride the mountain bike every weekend... and evening trips... and local meets. Other than that I leave it in the driveway all the time.
