OK, normally I dont bitch all that much but this just got under my skin.
over a week ago I asked a moderator in SF is I could post my Targa braces for sale. I noted that I had almost a thousand posts here and had run a couple of completed group buys here. The person I sent the request to said he couldnt approve it and gave me a name to ask for approval from. That person took 3 days to reply then told me he couldnt do it and that new admins were coming in and he would forward it to someone. A couple days later no reply so I asked him once again. He told me that everyone was out of town and that I could go ahead and do it as a group buy (which I already explained I didnt want to do, I just wanted to offer some up for sale on an individual basis, ready to ship). He also said I had to send $150 to the Supraforums paypal acct. Paying to be a vendor? Come on. I told 'em to forget it, I have chosen not to do business over there. The sad thing is this only hurts me, and the users over there that dont already know about it.

This whole process made me realize how much better SM is, and remided me why I dont post on that forum.

most of SFs staff are complete dicks.

Did you contact braddman? He seems to be the one to contact concerning the FS section.

I seriously laughed so hard, I almost cramped my side...

Weez, they dont give a shit about YOU... They dont care if there are people over there that dont know the quality of your work... You know what SF cares about? Yur $150... Its a fucking money hungry whore... It makes me sick... Theres a ballance between lookin out for scammers and protecting the members and just not letting people sell at all... All SF cares about is the money and the vendors giving them money... Why do you think they just ban people left and right over there? Because they dont give a fuck about the members...

^yawp yawp. I've been inquiring for almost a year now about advertising on SF. After many months of being ignored, I finally got a reply.

I tried explaining that I do not make hardly any money off my cafepress store, but they don't get it, or rather... they just don't care. :icon_evil

I will point out that SupraMania costs me a few thousand dollars a year to run. SupraForums is MUCH larger. It take a lot of money to feed that beast. I'll bet it's close to 5 figures to keep that monster running.

I'm not defending any of it, just keep it in mind when you call it names.

Totally understandable. However, SF seems to be run under a giant hypocrisy "do as I say, not as I do" type of deal and it's bullshit.

I'd have liked to advertise there, but I'm not going to end my life over the fact I can't. I'm very grateful for the generousity that allows me to have my own vendor section here :)

SM > SF xeleventybillion in my book.

I used to love it there, but I've seen so many people get treated like shit, not even myself, but it irritated me. That Bradmann is a prime example. Im sure there are great guys over there like here, in fact I know it. Maybe most of the staff is good, but there is some overwhelming arrogance in the staff too.

Oh I know it takes money to run the site. That goes without saying. I also figured thats what being a major sponsor costs. The vendors there that do a lot of business there should certainly have to pay for advertising there. Its just that I'm not looking to "advertise" my company. I was asking for an opportunity to sell a few bars as a supra owner. $150 dollars just to post a few bars is rediculous. I mean I would have to sell 3 just to break even.
Im also not calling them names or saying they suck or anything of the sort. Im just saying the cost of doing business there is not worth the lack of service and attention I recieved as a small time manufacturer.

The jist of my complaint is this. It took almost 2 weeks just to find out I needed to give them $150 to do a group buy that I didnt want to do. I very politely said no thanks, I choose not to do business there. Ebay will have to do.

Weez; I can advertise them in the for sale section. Since I have almost 1000 posts over there and have sold/bought an item or two.

PM me if you are at all interested.

It's just a different business model - they are running a forum with the intent to make a profit, we are not. Comparing them is like complaining about how hotel rooms at The Ritz cost more than the charity beds at the local Salvation Army.

Bradman is harsh, sure, however in his defense, look at the idiots he has to put up with - I've seen Reign get pretty growly here, and he's been running the For Sale section for a fraction of the time with a much better policed userbase.

I agree that their small business plans need work.
