It's not the trolls that stopped me from going there, it's the admin.
Supraforums is ALL about money. Why would they want you to be able to post ebay links? Why would they want you to sell your own parts at all? They squash everything they can't make money off of, including SILV 06. They make money off the Texas thing so they tried to kill SILV, well maybe not directly, but thats basically what is going on. They say it's all for their sponsors, and I have heard them lie about how it costs many thousands of dollars every month to run their forum. :biglaugh: SF is not even a high traffic site as websites go, and their server/s suck balls with frequent downtime and all sorts of restrictions for their users. They do their sponsors a major disservice with their shitty bandwidth. As far as they are concerned no one needs to talk about anything on SF unless it's about a product purchased from their sponsors.

So many people that are on that site really need to understand that SF is basically a commercial, with a side of message boards. It is a business, and as a business, their moves will be to increase profits according to their perceptions. Censorship comes in handy in such a position.

Just like you said, my problem with that site is not the members either, but the admin.
Any site can have trolls, but it is how the admins handle them.
When the admins are so concerned about making $$$$, trolls will be near their last concern.

I guess I am so disappointed with SF because at one time I really liked that site (and I still have a lot of love for many of the members there).
That was the first forum I ever joined too...

The admins are the biggest jerks I've seen. If you think people ganging up on someone is bad here you should try there.

I definately agree with Tony and Aaron...

Except its not so much the admins, but a few of the members that happen to be admin. At a small get together here Keith explained how Dusty did not want silv around. I cant remember exactly what he said and im not going to say things that are from my poor memory, but the basics of it are that Dusty did not want to show any support for silv. We all know its supposed to be about the Texas meet to them.

Also i know many of the admin there do not like other. Obiwan for instance never likes to follow boundaries of the forum, I remember when he had a ton of stickies up in the fs area and another admin repeatedly took them down.

The problem with Supraforums is that it has become an extremely large conflict of interest between many. Vendors seem to not be good sprts with each others businesses. Besides Titan atleast, I respect Titan alot.

Now on another note, id like to say that sf is still a very lenient board compared to many others. My saab forum for instance, saabs are based more around a european buyers. So getting technical help is challenging to overcome all the lingo and find parts for that are out there. That forum does not allow posting of links for any shop or even mention of another site. Forums like this have such a low traffic that the mods see everything right away. Now many get away with alot of things over on SF because of its shear volume and because of some of the more lenient mods over there.

yeah ive noticed all the "freedom of speech doesnt apply here, its a private forum" bull shit, you will get banned for saying anything that contradicts a mod... also when you make a post, various words will lead to links of commercials sites and advertisements... thats BS

This is exactly why I prefer SM. This place is a lot more easy going than most other forums out there. Club 3G was pretty laid back too, but I don't think it is as much as this place is.

BTW Jay, I totally agreed about probation sucking some serious ballz. Sounds like you may have been there before :naughty: ?
