Speaking on the side of stereo types, the MKIII community has taken great strides to earn the stereotype of our cars being slow and unreliable as well as their owners being cheap and full of unattainable pipe dreams.
We always make posts about what are going to do, while MKIV guys make posts about what they have done. We make a lot of talk but have very little action. Is it any wonder MKIV guy laugh at us when we make clams?
For every post a MKVI guy makes about the next level of 2JZ Zen he has reached a MKIII guy makes a post about how he botched a MHG job because he didn't want to do the prep work.
Because of our low cost of entry we get a lot of people without money, and as such a majority of people skip routine maintenance, and half ass important jobs. The MKIV has such a high cost of entry that it filters many of the cheap bastards out, if you want a MKIV you usually have to commit, you can't try it out for a week, get pissed and move on to another car without hurting your wallet.
MKIV guys have seen many kids pick up a MKIII and then start talking big with nothing to back it up, an embarrassment to the Supra name. Is it any wonder a number of them have gotten annoyed with our community?
I agree, asshole MKIV guys piss me off to no end, but I do see where they are coming from. Some of it may come from the superiority complex they have because they have more money than the typical MKIII owner, some of it may be because they feel they have a superior car.
But we as a community have done very little to deter this, every time we have a chance to show what our cars can do we usually end up sticking our collective foots in our mouth.
This is just the nature of the beast.
So here we are warm and snug on SM, safe in our feeling of superiority because we are the fastest car on here. If you really don’t like the stereo type change it, do it with actions not words. Do something first then talk about it, not the other way around. It can be done. But we have to stop talking about things that will never happen. And instead do the best we can, with what we have, and regardless of what the MKIV guys think, we do have a lot.
