i find it VERY hard to believe there is NO port on the turbos compressor housing for a vacuum line. and frankly if there isnt i wouldnt be using the turbo because its a POS. lol

I dont believe my T78 came pre-tapped...

ah brent....but they all have ports on them... yes they need to be tapped but there is SPOT to tap them on every single one.... thats more of what i was talking about... i didnt expect them to have a port already threaded in.

my point was why tap into an IC pipe when you can just tap WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO on the compressor housing...

either way not hooking up vacuum lines to a boost reference for the wg is kinda funny to me lol

Most industrial turbos will not have a port on the compressor housing. due to the fact that they measure boost at the intake manifold, where its seen the pressure drop from the pipe and the intercooler and can force the turbos to make X amount of boost at the mainfold.

**Note** this is for engines that run continuously at a constant rpm.

if so you probably bought one of those revamped diesel turbos with an exhaust a/r of 1.15

.84 AR, besides I connected the vac line today and took it up to 6,000 and still no boost. :icon_conf

As for the wastegate I didn't place the curved adaptor plate on, which may help the valve on the wastegate seal. I just placed the wastegate directly onto the pipe with no adapter plate so that's probably what's causing it to leak since I can hear the turbo spooling around 2,000 rpm it just doesn't build boost.

Luckily, my stupidity saved my engine. :biglaugh: Hopefully, this adaptor plate helps.

thats a good point...but hardly something I would advertise, lol

if what you have is the HKS style gate and an ebay manifold...then yes you need the plate. It is in fact the seal. do not put a gasket in there either.

This board just moves way too fast for me :aigo:

if you are feeling overwhelmed here ya might want to try Suzi's (Supragirl)site (I hope its ok I mention her site here Mike) HERE It tends to move a bit slower and there are some really good experts there and a well thought out FAQ/tech section.

SM is really more of an addiction for some of us. I personally am an information junky.
