Did you check the battery wire going to the starter and the engine ground? If those are good and you jumper the starter solenoid to the battery and it just clicks or spins, then you have a bad starter.
Pernilongo said:I was having the same issues already half a year ago. I went to the store, came out, click. 5 minutes later it starts. Then it never happened again for 3 or 4 months. Now i can't start it period. It seems like its a degrading problem. Probably a connection or contacts in one of the electrical devices. How else would you explain the worsting of a problem? not a sudden brake.
So yesterday i changed the key cylinder and now it starts every time, only from jump though.( i have battery drain issues, a short or smth). So at least key lock made it movable again. I'm gonna change the ignition switch today.
Try to do change the lock and the ign.switch. it's not expensive to buy and see if that's what it is.

suprastanger507mgte said:You have to use a starter from a 91-92 Supra, Cressida or a MKIV one works as well.
viperkillertt said:Okay, the MKIV and the MKIII 91-92 dont fit. THey don't have the threads for the bolts to connect to. Also they look different from the propeller shaft angle. See from the picture from Napa's website, they holes are smooth. None of the stores around here have them in stock, so i cant have them just pull them from the back room.
1991 Toyota supra turbo starter.
1994 non turbo and turbo supra starter.
viperkillertt said:I had it rebuilt. It is all pretty now. The shop did it pretty inexpensively, being that they had to track down some random parts and rip apart a few other starters to get it to work. It was 157 and it took a day. I will snap a picture before i put it in. Everything was shot internally. They replaced most all of the components.
viperkillertt said:All good, i have been driving her for 2 days. Very good starter. I dont think a Japanese one would be 200 bucks from Toyota. This one isnt even in the American denso catalog.
cruzinbill said:if your talking bout a 1j starter u can just use a 2j one. both na or tt they both fit and work fine. also a starter thru ol' autozone is $127
