ok replaced cps know its good coil packs all test out good. think the igniter is ok. whats next any info would be a huge help.

Ok was reading and saw that if you are not getting enough fuel pressure that you would not get any spark. Is this true? and check engine lite does not come on at at all could it be a ecu prob? the car has set four around 3 year.

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
1) Check the EFI fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.

2) Check the 7.5 amp IGN fuse in the left kick panel.

3) Check the 7.5 amp GAUGE fuse in the left kick panel.

If no joy:

Remove the EFI Main Relay and jumper pins 2 and 4. Turn the key to on. Does the check engine light come on? If so try and start the engine.

I'm about to go step-by-step through the troubleshooting process set out in the TSRM, plus what JJ stated in an earlier post.
To the OP: I have a no spark problem too. What did you do to get your Supra to start?
Thanks. Van :1zhelp:

OP sent me this PM: "dude not to [be] a smart ass but check your fuseses> then check oms at cps if all thats good check your volts to your ignition pin and bat pin on the ecu thats were i found my prob my ignition wire to the ecu was bad." JStoked

I replied: "No prob. I'm the one who connected the ECU ground wires to the Bat+ terminal..." Link is here: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?125437-Where-do-these-attach-to I suspected it as the cause for the no spark, so I replaced the ECU, but still no spark. Thanks for the direction. I'll check the fuses tomorrow. Thanks. Van

This afternoon, I found the 7.5 amp IGN fuse blown, replaced it and still no start, but I now have all the dash lights, including the MIL.
Here is what I did today: set base timing as per TSRM. The Supra started to start but all it did was turn over. I stopped cranking, waited count of ten then tried again. It again started to start, but never fired up. Gave it another ten seconds rest, turned ignition to start but this time it never did anything but crank. I smelled fuel, so I stopped cranking.
I checked the base timing; Crank Damper at TDC and cam sprockets on match marks on timing belt backing plate, CPS also at proper initial setting... Ran out of time. Tomorrow I'll see if the IGN fuse is still OK.
Thanks for all your help. I couldn't have gotten this far without you! Van

That may be the best bet unless you know your way around wiring diagrams and electrical testing. You may have ended up blowing a fuseable link somewhere or a wire itself and they can be hard to track in an entire harness.

But when checking fuses, make sure that not only should u check to see if the fuse is ok but make sure its getting power too. Had a power wire come off a friends started and hit the block, it fried a bunch of fuseable links behind the fuse panel.

You aren't doing anything like pumping the gas pedal while you try and start are you?

No. I'm just turning the key... So, smelling fuel after three attempted starts (w/ten seconds off between attempts), is that a sign of something else wrong? Will I be able to pull codes yet?
Thanks. Van

I purchased a brand new, engine wire harness, new injectors, new main EFI relay, new fuel pressure relay, and checked all the other relays too, but didn't even think of checking their connections for power. :nono:
I have a lot to learn... Van

If you do in fact smell fuel, crank the ignition and hold the pedal to the floor. Make sure the battery is fully charged. Hold it like that for 10 seconds or so then let the starter cool for a minute or so and do it one more time.

Thanks for that. I'll have a go tomorrow.
I forgot to add, a new set of copper NGK plugs, Toyota GTE plug wires, a new stock FPR, FPU VSV and a fuel damper. I don't know if that means anything... :dunno: I'm so, in over my head!
There's one more thing to add; I'm using washers on those plugs (so they're oriented toward the intake valves). On most of them, I had to use two washers. Could that be a problem? The plugs are torqued to "german" spec. Van

Van: Indexing your plugs will have minimal gains if any. And in the case of using more washers....likely that is doing more harm than good.

Try wiggling your CPS wires. You don't want to jerk on them like you're trying to start a weedeater; but, tug on them a bit. ;) Also, try wiggling any other wires you can reach.
