My car was running great and had no issues or signs of problems. I just got the car, got it smogged, put a 3 inch exhaust on it and everything was fine. I let the car sit for one day and now it won't start. I have fuel and everything seams to be in order with the car, just now there is no spark. Any ideas as to why the car would just all of the sudden have no spark? O, it's an 87 turbo. Any and all thoughts would be great. I am not a noob when it comes to cars, I'm just not familiar with supras. Thanks.

^even if its just the wiring and not the cps? Or is it because the ecu doesnt see the cps signal?

If the ECU sees the starter is cranking and no input from the CPS after 2 seconds it assumes a problem, and yes that would include wiring. The ground wire on the coil pack is not needed for the car to run, it is there only for EMI shielding.

Is there any way to test the cps? I have voltage to the coils so I should be good there. I probed for power going to the cps and I have nothing. Is this normal or should I have battery voltage at atleast one of the wires to the cps?

Could you explain that process please? Also, correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't the check engine light come on when I first turn the car on? And, when I jump the two terminals to try and pull codes I get nothing. Possible the ecu took dump?

Funny you should ask. I was going to say the first thing to do when having this kind of problem is to see if the check engine light comes on with the key. If it doesn't either 1) the ECU has no power or 2) the 5 volt sensor reference is shorted. I suppose the bulb could also be burned out. A bad ECU is possible but unlikely.

There is no check engine light at all. The abs light and all others come on like normal. Also I noticed that while trying to crank the engine my tach doenst even try to move.

I checked the ecu fuse and with the key on it has power. What is the 5 volt sensor reference?

That's assuming I did check the correct fuse

Most of the sensors are powered by 5 volts. It s called Vc. If it gets shorted to ground the ECU becomes brain dead. It's a rare occurrence though.

More likely you don't have power to the ECU. Check the EFI fuse, Gauge fuse, and Ign fuse. If those are OK check that the EFI main relay (it's near the EFI fuse) comes on when the key is turned on. It should click. If all that's OK you're going to have to break out a meter and do some digging...

edit: Your gauge fuse is good. Forget about it.
