Ok but how do you clean all the diamond paste crap out of every single coolant passage, oil passage, and bolt hole? Or keep it from getting in there in the first place

Simple, you lap a fully disassembled block, then wash it down.

ya sorry bout hijacking the thread but we gotta do somethin to keep ourselves entertained while this is in the process.... my block and head are already assembled and theres no chance in hell im disassembling them just to lap it, my block doesnt really need it...its the head. ive heard about putting some thick grease in the oil and coolant holes to block the shavings and paste from getting in there.....has anyone on here lapped an assembled head or block before? plus I dont see why I couldnt wash an assembled head other than that id have to relube the valve guide seals and buckets.

I come from a land down under
I lapped my assembled head.

I remove the cams and fill the front Oil supply hole with grease, I do the lapping then carefully wipe the excess diamond paste off.

I then take the head out and spray it with degreaser and wash with low pressure from the hose and repeat a few times.

I then wash it with warm soapy water then finish up with the high pressure washer blowing the grease plug out from the Cam side.

I have to concour with the thought of copper and daily driving. Unless the lot of you are tearing your engines down after each and every single drive to inspect the Copper hg. You are asking for trouble. Copper is great for RACING as it is soft. Bad part is the measily 1200 degree melting point before it starts to go south on you (one of the MANY specific reason drag block go through a tear down to replace what is left of the HG!!)

as for the supra block

folks the 7M is not a tiny v6 or v8 length wise. You are talking an inline 6 which with an overheat requires machining, regardless of the latest miracle cure of the day!!!! I don't care if the HG is made out off the most soft metal that can cover .1 inches of warpages. When these blocks warp. they WARP.

Now don't go talking logic.

I heard the same about copper head gaskets too.

figgie, this isn't a regular copper gasket that requires an o ring in the block - this has the o ring built in :D

in the end it still copper. perfect for drag racing where the engine gets torn down after each run. ;) Now unless you love tearing your engine after each drive ;) I don't think it will be that great an idea but , who knows! perhaps there is someone that does infact tear down the block after each drive. ;)

I'd carefully try foam ear plugs..

Has SCE gotten the head and block to start this yet.? I am very interested as I will be picking up my "new" 90 turbo with BHG next week? I really dont have the resources for all the previously required "prep work". This sounds like a perfect solution for folks like myself. Of course, from what I have read, the stocker would do me fine, since my hp aspirations arent very high. But you never know what will happen down the road.
