with all the debate around E-fans I thought I would post up my setup.
It started when my first shroud broke, then my IC pipe would not allow the condenser fans to be in place. So it was over heating with a stock 7mge rad, good shroud, no condenser fans, with A/C on in traffic, new good clutch fan.

I have had problems with electric fans before. I was skeptical because of the short coming in previous cars that I had flex-A-lite setups on. The problem was always the low cfm, and the amp draw.

After I got home from the junk yard I powered this fan up and was
impressed with the massive cfm (cfm unknown to me) and level of noise it made even though that is irrelevant for cooling purposes it was still cool.

1998 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable with the 3.8L E-fan $15 used
Honda fan coolant switch or a aftermarket heat switch
relays
cut some of the plastic down to fit flush on rad

This fan seems to move way more air than the clutch fan ever did at idle. I have had no heat related problems after the install of the E-fan. For me the E-fan worked wonders and saved me from over heating in traffic. Wile driving over 30mph the fan never comes on.

man I don't know how you got your taurus fan to fit so well, mine fits like crap, I had to cut up the entire fan shroud to make it fit. And even now it doesn't fit well. How did you do the wiring for the honda coolant switch?

Looks great! Too bad it wont fit with an aftermarket radiator...

Thats BS. I have a 3 core Haste Aluminum Radiator, 7MGTE, and it fits (tight yes) but it fits.

I ran a temp switch plumbed into the lower part of the Thermostat neck, that will turn on at 190* and turn off at 180*, thats wired up to a relay that will kick the LOW setting of the fan on, its great for daily driving, I also have another relay and a switch on the dash that'll allow me to kick on the HIGH setting. I Will try and get pictures of my setup for you guys also, but it is a GREAT fan and it didn't cost much. and for those naysayers, regarding fitment, there are MULTIPLE models of these fans w/ different types of shrouds. and alot of the ebay sellers won't mention what exact car its from. I'm pretty sure mine is from a 94 SHO. but this t ype of fan came in all the 3.6 V8s , but I'm sketchy on that info and don't have the information on hand.

If it fit the way you described that radiator must not be much thicker than stock.

Who cares as long as it does it's job well ;)

I had to cut the top and bottom down 1.5". The sides where not flush so I cut to them. If I use this fan in a larger rad it will hit the idler pulley for sure, I would have to move the mounts or cut the fan some more. i removed this fan from a 98 Ford Taurus 3.8. As for the temp switch MA70Snowman did the same as me.

JZ's are longer than the 7M, there isnt as much room in front of the motor as there is on a 7M

Good thread. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!! I'm literally gonna be installing this fan tomorow. I bought a DeRale Adjustable Fan Controller and I was planning on setting the fan up where it comes on on low speed, and if the temp gets a little higher, the high speed will turn on. This way, the fan will not drain as much energy from the car. Can you guys suggest how I can do this?

I haven't had any problems with my FAL fans. Must just be where I live (doesn't get over 90 much in the summer) and the fact I don't drive it in traffic much.

where is it exactly from ford ,volvo or flexalite
mine is off some kind of volvo.i bought it off of e-bay for $25.the seller just listed it as a bosch fan,but it had a volvo sticker on it also.i had the thermastat fan switch set too low and it cooled the motor down to 175*.it was a good 80+* that day,but it seem's to pull alot of amp's

i ran the flex-a-lite 210 twin fans also.they would probably cool better with a nice designed shroud.they seem to block a good amount of fin's on the radiator when mounted and there shroud is real flat.

Im overheating right now with flexlites. If I push the car hard and hold high RPM's, the temp shoots up to almost red. If the weather is cooler it takes under 10 minutes of flogging to get the temp hot again. I have a HKS oil cooler just to help it, but it still would overheat. I think I could over heat my engine even with all the fans you guys just mentioned. I'm going to change back to a mechanical fan.

Seen too many supes overheated with e-fans and have switched to mechanical fans. Been running it in my car for three years now with the stock 7m rad and ac blasting during the summer. No overheating issues.
