I used the 16" 3K CFM from perma cool with no issues you strap the 10amp 170° switch to the water neck & TRD 165° thermastat + Koyo 55mm core radiator.

I kept the JZA70 shroud didnt need a relay because the amp ratting of the fan and switch Combo

The only fir issue with the permacool is you have to add around 1/2" stand offs to the base of the E-Fan otherwise the blades are too close to the radiator.

Clutch fan is better parts are easier to find & more reliable.

I would have to disagree, in my case my clutch fan let me down many times.
one time it went out so I replaced it $40
then the fan hit the shroud and broke it $20
then the car was over heating in summer red fluid cant reminder price but not cheep

then my new shroud broke and I had, had it. I put the e-fan on got 600miles on it never a problem yet. car has not overheated one time. fan comes on temp drops like a rock. I boost like crazy for more than 20mins out in the hilly winding country roads and it does the job better than my clutch fan ever did.
At the track is when it realy shines, when I'm in the staging lanes i turn it oe and it cools the whole bay back to abundant temp.
Ff i want to work on the 1j and its hot i let it sit and leave the key in and the fan on it cool in no time.

It looks way better to and if it goes out ford made plenty of them and its faster and easier to replace.

How much CFM's Do your E-fans Push out ? Isnt the amp draw crazy from powerful E-fans, leading to dimming lights, low volts etc...?

From the various threads I read on the Tarus e-fan they flow ~2800 CFM LOW and upwards of 3800-4200 HIGH.

WoW... And the amp draw ? That must be a significant voltage drop...

Pulled from that Site I linked earlier

"Using a Fluke digital clamp ammeter, we tested the starting (or inrush) current draw and the operating current draw. The Taurus fan pulled a little over 130 amps on startup (only for milliseconds) and settled down to right around 40 amps using the high-speed wire."

bad clutch? not normal...

Maybe, but when it happens it really sucks! Here are pictures of my fan clutch locking up resulting in the fan spinning so fast it sucked the shroud right off the radiator. This occurred around 5500-6000 RPM...

The fan, fan clutch and fan shroud were all a complete loss. I was so pissed I decided on trying the Flex-a-lite dual electric fans along with a variable multi-speed fan controller. That setup was much cleaner and during the relatively short time I ran it (before pulling the 7MGTE) it seemed to cool the car just fine.

Currently the car is undergoing a 2JZGTE swap and we intend to keep the Flex-a-lite dual electric fans.

Best,

Brad
