Woot woot!! Silver state mile here we come haha. jk.

how much strength comparison loss are we talking here? I may be interested in one of course depending on price, could you also pm me a price on what you would be charging for full rebuild service, just trying to get a ballpark idea.

Doward, probably better to post up a ballpark estimate of how much you charge for a rebuild. I know that I, along with a few others who have posted in this thread, are interested.

I gotta get approval and such for all this, guys!

There's also the matter of my usual "Test the hell out of it before releasing it for sale ;)"

I was busy designing oem 13" front brakes for a killer price ;)

I'm still waiting to hear back from the cryo guys before I get an approximate price. I'm aiming under $500 for the set.

I said it before, I'm not doing a giant production run on these. I'm not wanting this to turn into a huge ordeal for me like the front brake kits turned out to be.

Same with blueprinted transmission rebuilds. I'm looking around $450-500 + parts, and I will be doing NO MORE than 2 of these. Just swapping the gears and giving everything the 'once over' will be around $300 + parts, no more than 3 of these.

I love bringing new items to the market, but I don't have the extra time to dedicate large quantities of it!

My goal is to push 30+ MPG from the Supra on the highway :D

My A340E and 91 couldn't do it with cruise control at 70mph.

I can't quite get there with mine either. Same year/tranny. 27 mpg is the best I've gotten so far. The car is completely stock.

I can do the math, since I know the formula. But I want to be spoon fed.

A 3.73 / 0.66 setup would be GREAT for someone just looking to cruise in their Supra.

Like me. :wavey: It's not all about the HP but the experience just cruising down the highway. If I had an R154, which could be a possiblity as I still consider a swap, I'd be all over this. So I'm subscribing to keep up.:icon_bigg

.7 with a 3.73 will get you this. For refrence only. That is also a "stock diameter" tire. .7 doesn't bog the engine.

I would also think there are other choices besides the .75 and .78 of the R and W trans.

Nick, that's exactly what I'm thinking. The difference between the r154 and auto done again and you've got what I've built.

I think it'll really open up more options for guys. A lot of pre-'89 guys focusing on MPG have been looking for 3.73s (hell, I was one!) and this would work better, while still having the same 0-130(ish) characteristics of stock. That's more than most here run in the 1/4 mile, guaranteed ;)

I have an 89+ with a 3.73 and R154 (I did the auto to manual swap). I'd be interested to hear how that testing comes along. I have 235/40WR-18's on the rear. I wonder how that would affect the performance? If it looks awesome for cruising, count me in for one :)

Yep. I've had the prototype sitting here for about a week now. I'll be finishing up the 13" front brakes this weekend (finally!)

My original idea was to go to a T56. Then I started playing with the idea of just replacing the 5th gear.

Benefits? Well, no custom work needed - just swap the 5th gear! Lower highway rpm = better gas mileage.

*EDIT* @ 70mph ;)

Stock is a 0.753. ~2800 rpm on a stock 3.91 rear equipped Turbo model. You 3.73 guys are running around 2650 rpm.

You 4.30 guys? Damn near 3100rpm!

The 5th gear I've put together here is a 0.66 overdriven gear.

The results?

3.73s = ~2350 rpm from ~2650
3.91s= ~2450 rpm from ~2800
4.30s= ~2700 rpm from ~3100

These calcs are all on stock 225/50/16 tires. What kind of real-world difference will they make? We'll find out when I throw the fresh r154 in Jeff's Supra.

I think Jeff is liking being local to me ;)

Cons? The new 5th gear is physically smaller than stock - so naturally, it is slightly weaker. My solution to that? I'm going to cryo treat it.

And YES - I'm working on rear brakes, guys!! No plans for doing a GB just yet - I have to contact a moderator first.

Or if one wants to chime in here, that'll work too.

So what do you guys think? Any interest in a new taller 5th gear?

Great idea bud;) just that I want a taller first gear.... so me tinking about TKO500 tranny unless that lower ratio rear end group buy ever gets under way.

I am spinng 7200rpms now and may and possibly spin 7400rpms with my new setup! 46+ mph 1st gear would be lovely
