Glad to hear you got it....

One thing to note here though, Good thing you pulled the cams.... Yes both cylinders are at TDC, but one is TDC compression going to power and the other is TDC exhaust going to intake so that one would have both intake and exhaust valves open just a tiny bit....

Which begs the question, how would you have done it if the engine were still in the car? i.e. there isn't much room for a 3/4 impact gun, the block of wood in the crank wouldn't work and its a lot of work to remove both cams to use the rope trick. The crank holding tool I tried using just severed or bent the bolts that screwed into the damper.

Always open to ideas.

I personally have never had the starter trick not work... On key thing though and I dont know if this was the case with him but it tends to not work if the plugs are in the engine. The compression is enough to keep the starter trick from working unless you have a really good starter and us a 16 volt battery maybe.

The other thing that I've seen people do when doing the starter trick is to all ready have the breaker bar on the ground and this doesn't usually work. I hold off the ground and allow the impact of it hitting the ground to break the bolt free and like I said, I've yet to not have that work...
