If you look at the picture provided in post 3, unfortunately it does not show the drain hole side on the inside. But it suggests that the hole opens up under the baffle plate. So even if we could find the magic magnet that would drag it over there (defying physics in my opinion) it would land on the top side of the baffle and I still could not reach it.Figit090 said:sounds good... i think this needs further investigation. if you got it up to the side of the pan past that baffle thing and let it roll down into the bottom...

I appreciate your advice to hold up but it is a little late, I already have the magnet stuck in there!!! HA HA HA. Oh man. Yeah it hits bottom but then I can't pul it out!! WOOHOOOOO. Well I have some ideas to sort it out. I just need to think of what Jesse Jackson would say now "The only solution to inspiration of innovation is generation of perspiration..." Uh yeah...Figit090 said:HOLD UP!!!!
make sure there's nothing in the block besides the bold that it gets stuck to!! if you get it down there and it sticks itself to your engine and you can't pull it back up with the wire you're ScReWeD!!:aigo: :aigo: :aigo: :aigo:
so yeah maybe stick it to the pan and see if you can pull it off with JUST the cable w/out failure.
and i was thinking getting it above that plate, along the side and down through the hole. then you can find it again and pull it BACKWARD to the drain hole which is to the left of the big hole in the baffle plate....
i dunno. we need a better pic.
OK, so now you have blown my minddddddddd. First of all what the heck is that thing and how did it get down there?Jason T said:
Picked out of sump from exhaust side rear oil drain
Agreed. While all this talking was going on you prolly coulda pulled the pan had it out, Put the pan back on, And filled the car back up.starscream5000 said:Just pull the damn pan for Christ's sake, that way you won't have to worry about it later on.

As for the dragging down the hole idea, again we would need the magic magnet but anyway, the oil pump strainer is in that big hole I think so it won't fit HA HA HA........................

Second, what is the diameter of that magnet on the end there? I definitely have an obstruction on the way down the hole about 6" into the hole. I don't see how I could fit that magnet down there unless it is smaller than it looks. Do tell!!!!!
MA70's 19mm Head sump bung is a 18mm x 1.25 thread I brought a magnetic sump plugs on trademe (Ebay) and made it fit the 7m bung used the magnets force to hold in place and a nead it type steel expoxy to secure in place
Any other toyota sump has the 12mm x 1.25 just not 7m/5m/1S
Well the problem there is that the bolt is on the "wrong" side of the baffle plate, so it will never make it to the drain hole as far as I know. It is killing me that I can't locate the bolt with the magnet. The magnet sounds like it comes out in the center of the rear of the pan about 1.5" from the back of the pan. And I think the bolt is right there but the magnet will never grab it.Jason T said:Thats a allen key tool used to remove factory head studs
Magnet is about 3mm
Heres a easy fix for bolt in sump
Change oil & remove bolt from magnet
