I'm taking it one step at a time, this site is the absolute best resource for how to do things, everything I am doing has been done thousands of times and people have written about their experiece, I learned from that.

So I have an idea about what I am doing, but no personal experience. Honestly most of it is common sense.

True that. I did my top end replacement never having torn apart an engine to that degree. So far things have worked out ok. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it all out when you have resources like the TSRM and personal experience and knowledge from people like members on this very forum.

Subscribed to the thread :) Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Lots of progress (kind of...)

Got my a new (refurbed) head that was 115.7mm new cams, new valves.

It has a casting number of 12 vs my old head that was 8, but both share the same factory imperfections, anyone know what the differences between numbers meant?

Anyways, got the head installed, 82-83 ft/lbs

I'm being held up right now because I have the wrong size coolant hoses, and I lost an injector grommet, gotta go get those.

I have the lower intake manifold on, exhaust manifold on, turbo halfway on (god damned oil lines) and a couple other miscelanious things on as well.

My dreaded list:

Finish Turbo Install
CPS install
Timing
Coolant Hoses
Vacuum Hoses
Throttle Setup
Upper Intake
Fuel Rail
Alternator
Belts
Maft Pro Rewire
Wire Apexi AVCR
Coils/wires/plugs
Change Fuel Injector Clips
Tune TPS
New Tune... My old tune was for 440cc at stock fuel pressure, stock turbo.

Things I need help with:

Installation of CPS/Timing:

I've read allover, but can't find simple instructions on what to do, where do I begin with this?
For Instance:
What positions should the crank be at, while the cams are at what position (if that makes sense) and how do I install the CPS while the crank/cams are at those positions?

Here are some threads I'll be referencing:

Vacuum Routing:

Any diagrams of any vacuum routing will help. I have assembled the following and will be using these to setup the car, but if others have more diagrams I would be very appreciative.

Base Tune:

I understand every car is different but I need to program something into the maft pro to start off, so if anyone has my mod list, or similar It would be cool if I could get a copy so I have something to base my initial tune off of.

Other than that what should Mainscale be? Fuel Pressure without hose attached? Other general recomendations?

Any other input is highly appreciated! I'll post pictures of the work I get done on assemble tommorow

Iirc there were something like 22-25 head revisions over the years. The 12 is prolly slightly newer.

Looks good tho keep it up.

Some progress today:

p1531069_1.jpg

p1531069_2.jpg

Got the upper intake on, egr all setup, vaccum hoses done, timing done (except adjusting with CPS and timing light)

Have an issue of no fuel pump activity so I have to track down the reason that is happening (after jumping b+ to FP)

So:

Done Today:
Timing
Vacuum Hoses
Upper Intake
Alternator
Belts

Left:
Finish Turbo Install
CPS adjustment
Throttle Setup
Maft Pro Rewire
Wire Apexi AVCR
Tune TPS
New Tune... My old tune was for 440cc at stock fuel pressure, stock turbo.
GET FUEL PUMP PUMPING
Fix Connectors on harness (mostly the ones going to coolant thermostat housing)

Even if no one is reading this it is keeping me organized and motivated, so that is why I'm doing daily updates ;)

Want to start this off saying thanks to Turbobob at Full Throttle Tech for the repair of my maft pro, what he did was beyond customer service, and I would more than recomend that company to anyone looking for a piggyback system, they are the best.

Today I found out that I have to drop the fuel tank to find out why my walbro isn't pumping. Kind of annoyed by this, but its gotta be done, I'm almost to the point of cutting out a section of the bottom of the hatch, and putting a hinge on it so I can do all these stupid jobs from above.

Got held up because the two coolant hoses on the left side of the block that make a 90 degree angle, needed to go buy molded hoses.

http://forums.celicasupra.com/showthread.php?t=33827

That thread was incredibly helpful in finding part numbers.

So the list:

Done Today:
Finish Turbo Install
Maft Pro Rewire
Tune TPS

Left: (Now In Order)
Throttle / Intake Setup
GET FUEL PUMP PUMPING
Fix Connectors on harness (mostly the ones going to coolant thermostat housing)
Wire Apexi AVCR
CPS adjustment (Timing Light)
New Tune... My old tune was for 440cc at stock fuel pressure, stock turbo.

What I need to remember to do:
Adjust tension on Timing Belt
Seal fuel rail at cold start injector output
cps gasket
fill power steering

If it looks like I'm going slow it's becuase
1) I am
2) Don't have much time, and keep losing time on stupid things taking too long

Nice progress! I'm will also be shooting for 400 with a similar parts list as your car. Mine sarted as an 87 N/a, and my valve seals are starting to go, so I'm saving up the 7mgte/R154 swap. Anywho goodluck, and happy boosting.

Alright... An official update:

I've been to frustrated to continually update the thread so here are some of the problems I've been having:

Fuel AN fitting broke in supply, had to remove a bunch of stuff to fix
Fuel leaks
Turbo Oil lines leaking
Turob Oil studs snapped
Coolant leaks (fixed all, but radiator drain plug leaks still)
Messed up some maft pro wiring
Map sensor wire broke
CPS Wires broke
TPS out of tune
CPS bolt snapped (had to retap)

I now have the engine light on (I think it is a knock sensor code, will check later)
My O/D light is blinking, no speedo so I think it is that sensor

My TODO list:

Repair:
coolant leaks
oil change
fix coolant thermostat housing connectors
fix TPS problem
transmission light
speedo
engine light (knock sensor?)
VSV wires shorten

solder:
maft pro connections (two left)
map sensor connection (green wire)
CPS connection (remove connector, direct solder)

Tune:
Fuel pressure
Tune with maft pro

First thing I want to do is fix the coolant connections. 3 connectors broke off so I did some research and found these diagrams to use.

p1536774_2.jpg

1. Cold Start Injector Plug
2. O2 Sensor Plug
3. Cam Position Sensor Plug
4. ECU Coolant Sensor Plug
5. Radiator Cooling Fan Sensor Switch Plug
6. A/C Coolant Sensor Switch Plug
7. Air Flow Meter Plug
8. Instrument Cluster Coolant Temp Gauge Plug
9. Oil Pressure Plug
10. From headlight relay, it has been Unknown, but I found it, but I don't see where it plugs in.

I'm making this thread so that it is easier to find part numbers and such later on, and as an easy reference for things, that is why I keep including diagrams hosted by me (so they never go away ;) )

I also want to take some pictures, so those will be uploaded soon.

I need help tuning, and I need a picture of how the automatic transmission "kickdown" (I don't know the real name, but I know it isn't actually a kickdown cable) mounts.

Any chance #10 is related to the fog lights? It looks like a connection I have unplugged and my fog's haven't worked since I repainted. I have to get after it next time I have it on the lift.
