alot of you are complaining about nice cars not being recognized, but if they dont enter then what can u do, im sure there is alot more out their that are beautiful cars.
alot of people just arent to the point were they want to compete, i wouldnt want to enter my car; cause i dont feel its to that level. most are probably thinking that as well
i think its a great setup and great start for a first year, things will getter better like everything does

no you have it wrong.. Duane's are is the best, and understood you have to beat the best to be the best....
However im not staing these somments for me, but for the average guy who doesnt spend as much money as duane does, but still loves his mk3 and would be happy to win something.. ie, best engine, or interior...
Like i said, if it comes down to how psends the most on thier mk3, then the winners will be the same all them time.

but i understand reigns point and see that its noones fault really!
i was just saying for the future maybe have a few more awards so a few other people can get something...

i will give you a perfect example...you all know i have a 2jz in my car...

well at this supra meet i was just at, there were 3 classes for highest HP.
Highest HP MK3
Highest HP BPU MK4
Highest HP APU MK4

i ran my car and made 623whp @19psi i didnt have to go anymore because the next hight mk3 made 590whp. do the event ends, waiting to get called for my thropy and money....nothing, im like WTF..

they were like since you have a 2j we put you in the mk4 class. WTF, then i told them if i knew you were going to do that then i would of turned the boost up, since the highest mk4 made 890whp that day!!!!

bottom line, not enough catergories..

im done with this thread, very good job jake, and the rest of you guys...

Me/Titan will have a gift bag made up for thw winner this year. good luck to all..

I think most people around here have the right idea.

Average will not win a competition, this isn't the special olympics, and no an N/A unmodded supra will not stand out on top as ROTY...too bad. I'm sure the companies DONATING the prizes are not going to give it up for all the different categories you guys want.

I've put a shit load of my own work and a lot of money into my car this year. But IMO it is not up to par for any competition yet, and thats fine by me.

But keep bitchin and get the ROTM/Y taken away, you do realize the "staff" doesn't have to do anything right? IMO this is to give props to the ones LEADING the mkiii community.

each gets theyre own thing, then 10(best from each month + 1 ) go up against eachother for ROTY

12 months

3 months for each cat. = 9
Classes get theyre own thing here=10
Vote in NOV for ROTY=11
DEC ROTY gets his own month....=12

I think Josh and all the other mods have done an excellent job not only with this competition, but with SM in general. There's never going to be a PERFECT format, but I think next years will run alot smoother than this year. We will hopefully have more contestants for ROTM, making ROTY that much more difficult, and the voting alot closer. Let's try to make the rest of this competition fun for all, and leave the bitching and moaning to the religous and political threads........................;)

Now with that out of the way. Thanks to Cryoslash and others for their kind words, and thanks to Scott (ForcedTorque) for recognizing the time and effort put into Da89Soups gay ass car. He can't compete with the other supras on the racetrack, but he is a great member of SM and deserves to be in this competition. I pity the fool that has to go up against him........................:biglaugh:

1st, how is a NA supposed to keep up with turbos in, as you put it "runs the fastest, and puts down the most power"?

2nd, if a clean ass stock MKIII NA hardtop was to go up against duane, ron hell, even a clean ass stock turbo hardtop, the NA would loose.

3rd, what grimjack said is an oxymoron, in order to go fast you need to spend money and/or time, the faster you go the more you spend

i would like to see a category for each of the three engine sections and a roty; 7mge, 7mgte, and 1j/2j.

Best 1j/2j
Best mk3 overall (could be a repeat winner of another catagory)

wow, thanks. I dont think my car is anywhere near any of your guys cars thought. Mine still needs lots of work, maybe one day I can have a car 1/2 as clean as yours, rons, daunes, supranikoli's , et al..

I couldn't agree more iwht what you said though..

but who cares, I'm proud of what I have and what I can show to others :)

WOW! So many of these same points get brought up around SILV each year. If So-and-so shows up he'll sweep all of the different categories. This is part of the reason why the "Best of Show" awards have been ditched at the annual Supra tradition and "Best Exterior" joined the other awards (Best Interior, Best Engine, Best ICE). Even these awards are subjective and sometimes we give the wrong award to the wrong person.

How do you make something that is fair to everyone no matter what their personal goals?

How do you compare Johnny's Supra that he has built it to be a 9-second monster - stripping out the interior but having a decent body and a killer powerplant - with Timmy's STRONG 395rwhp show winning and still able to destroy 99.5% of the cars on the road Supra? If you want a drag car then get a drag car.

How do YOU define "Best"? Second place is just the first loser right? For me personally I think that drag racing a Supra is pretty much a joke. "What's the difference between a 1000rwhp Supra and a 300rwhp Supra? They both run 14s." This isn't that far off actually. How many other cars run faster times/speeds with less horsepower? Why would you want to stress things out by throwing nearly 2 tons of weight down the 1320? I still remember getting laughed at by the GN guys when I invited them to join us for our track day in Vegas. They simply said that the GN does not turn - it just goes VERY fast down a straight line.


"To be the best you have to beat the best." While this is true it is likely not fair in this community.

If you prevent previous winners from entering again (for a predefined period of time) you open this up and get more people excited and engaged, but "winning" is sort of hollow as you might not be up against the best.

^ Your love for your N/A has not gone unoticed!! It is the type of dedication that was thought of when they came up with the ROTM idea.

You like what Keith said, because he has long been experiencing these same type problems. He didn't just get those ideas.

^I don't really have any other option :) Everyone should care for what they have the most.
Ok, I'm always jealous at other guys that have nice supras, but the jealousy disappears when I go to garage, and just sit in mine ( cause I have nothing better to do... everythings working :))
IMO jealousy is behind everything... that means our thinking is behind everything. Think and reflect positive, and you get double positive back. Reflect negative, get 3/4 of it back at ya!

Ride of the year is based off of the ROTM winners.

At this point in time we can have only one ROTM winner not one per catagory. Other wise it would be very posible to have a ROTY for each type of Supra.

If People are voting for the dream cars. that is because those are the cars the people on this site think should get the honors for ROTY. If you think someone else should get it then vote for that person/Ride.
