So...Got it for just over $1,000...

It's a 1990 Cherokee. 4x4, 4.0L, yadda yadda yadda.

I'm excited about it because I've never owned anything other than a bunch of little Japanese cars! :icon_bigg

Guy told me it was blue when I called...come time to meeting him and getting the Jeep...I found out...it was DEFINATELY blue.   :biglaugh:

You can call it the Smurfmobile, You can call it ugly, but I can call it my Winter "beater"...which is not so much a beater...I'll probably end up keeping this one for a while. Motor sounds healthy, doesn't have the real bad ticking that a lot of them develope, drives and rides like a new Jeep, and overall, I pretty much love it!

Yeah, the color is "different"...but as I said, IDGAF! I was originally looking for a reliable rusted out truck or something lol...so a vehicle with a decent paint job is good for me!

And no...the paint isn't flaking...I just washed it and didn't dry it, so those are water spots all over it.

K. HAVE FUN DRIVING YOUR SUPRA FOR THE WINTER WHILE I'M LIVIN' IT UP IN 4x4 SUV. :naughty:

Nice find!!!! Had one just like it a while back as a winter beater!!! The 4.0 liter is pretty much bullet proof. Cant say as much for the trans though!!! Rear main seal is the most common problem with those older jeeps but its an easy fix, its a two piece and you just need to pull the pan. Trans is cheap and easy to change to if it goes out. Great in snow!!! And since im sure you could care less about it, it should be lots of fun. Oh they all have an odd problem when it gets really cold like -20 they tend to run rough but thats normal. Goodluck!!!!

Just make sure the pcv hoses aren't collapsed or plugged and you are good to go unless the intake gasket leaks. That is a fun one to change out. My 88 cherokee has 254000 on it and still runs fine. They are great in snow and fair gas mileage for a 4X4. The rear bumper brackets tend to rust off but new ones are $36 each from the dealer. Also, the coolant overflow bottle tends to crack around the hose barbs but that part is only $55 from the dealer. I think the 90 has the stronger trans so you shouldn't have a problem there. Now go have some FUN with it!

First off, the Transmission is FLAWLESS. No kicks, shifts smoothly, no weird or funny noises. :)

And no, this is not a factory color for the late-90's Jeeps.

Trust me. :) The picture doesn't look anything like it does in person. ;)

It. Is. Sooooooooo Blue. :D

As for a lift and big tires - "bigger" tires going on tomorrow, and a lift...well...Loki, this is just more money that I'll need to be investing in my Supra!!! :)

Haha, I can drive the Supra in the winter and not worry about snow, or too much rain, or ice, or any other fun stuff.

Hell, I'll prolly have the Targa off on Christmas Day!

Anyway, thats really, really, really bright blue. You'll attract plenty of attention lol.

haha XJ jeep FTW!!! i have a 91 2 door cherokee sport (I-6 4.0 HO, i got my jeep for $500 only has 105k on it) these engines run forever, theres another jeep in my family. A 89 jeep commanche that has 260k on it. The commanche got a new engine at 258k after 4 overheats, died with cracked block.

Theres an easy fix for that coolant problem with the pre 89 or pre 90? (4.0L)

Go buy:
91 Radiator
91 hoses, any that have coolant through them (hoses that go to and from heater valve, and the lower and upper hoses)
91 heater valve
and a overflow bottle (i bought the one for the 89 commanche at autozone)

It all drops right in there, and if you want, i can get ya a pic of the commanches engine bay so you can see how it was done. When i dropped all of this into the commanche, i put in a temp guage so you can actually see the temp (the idiot light failed on the commanche, which is why it overheated so many times)

I also think that the 91 radiator is a lil different and seems to cool better, XJs with 4.0s seem to have a overheating problem in traffic.

After you do this, you wont ever have a cracked bottle (it wont be there anymore) and its a lot easier to add (and burp?) coolant cause its a "normal" radiator..lol

Well Chad, You probably don't have winters as bad as we do. Try bringing your ol' Supra down to Indiana for a winter and see just how "easy" it is to commute. :nono:
And even at that, I've got almost 100rwhp MORE than I did last winter...and last winter was just stupid. :nono: Getting stuck in parking spots because it wouldn't go anywhere....It was just rigottdamndiculous! :icon_conf By the end of the winter last year, I had right at 400lbs in sandbags in the back and it STILL spun everywhere when I "could" get moving. So...trust me when I say that driving my Supra this winter is just OUT of the question. ;)

Yes, VERY blue. :) Even the ladies are lovin' it. :naughty:
And being that I work at Best Buy...someone gave me a killer idea yesterday...Get a big ass Best Buy logo on the side of the Jeep and make it a "company car". :biglaugh: Funny though, because it is EXACTLY the same color as Best Buy's Blue. :icon_surp
