I'm just focusing on the engine now, that's why I posted in this section.

Someday I'll put up an actual car thread in the correct section.

I found some interesting information today. I was researching what the differences were between the pre89 yellow plug 7mge and the gray plug 89+ 7mge. I always new the power was the same, but this came up while browsing through original Supra brochures:

86.5 and 87:
200hp @ 6000rpm
185 ft lb @ 4800 rpm

88+
200hp @ 6000rpm
188 ft lb @ 3600rpm

Peak torque much earlier in the later models, very interesting. As far as I can recall, the 88 7mge is still yellow plug. I have a full 89+ setup laying around, it might be fun to change it over while I am removing the intake manifold for cleanup.

i thought this was because 89+ motors use a different crank

Nice thread you got going here! I allways admire a good 7M-GE build. I have the same HKS exhaust, got it with my 86.5, I had a test pipe on it as well, and yea, it was very quiet but sounded great. I have the same intensions as you with it, it is looking scratched and a little beat up so I'm in the process of sanding it down and laying a few coats of paint on it, I'm thinking about hanging it on my wall when its done. :)

I have to pass smog first, then we can start talking other mods.

For the ACIS, not sure. I assumed it wasn't hooked up right. After a quick look, it seems ok, but the VSV is not letting vacuum through. I'll have to double check that setup and test the VSV to see if it is bad.

On one of my older Supras I don't have any more, I changed one VSV. On the vacuum canister for ACIS. It can happen. Fix it yet?

There is a cam change. The part number switched to the same as the Cressida. Which is why the compression test specs also changed.

That actually has almost no effect on power. Well, not enough to matter. You have a little more mass, 3.36% more, but with the 12 smaller weights in place of the 8 bigger, you have a little better balance. The cam change made the power and rpm changes.
