Nope. I purchased the car with it like that (I was aware of it). He said that the ISC valve is supposed to make some tick sound when you turned the car off if it's working properly or something. I'm not sure he knew what he was talking about.

What I notice the car do, though, is when I get on the gas real hard (say, quick, hard shift) it'll actually die a few times... being re-ignited by the fact that the clutch is engaged/etc. But what it results in is the car jerking a few good times. This sound like it'd be caused by a bad ISC?

I got a PM from another member selling one for a good price, so I'm most likely going to take him up on that anyway.

Fuel cut. Check for boost leaks... Does the Check engine light come on when the "jerking" occurs?

yeah, and I think the battery and oil pressure lights come on, just like when your battery's dead or something and (for some reason or another) all the lights come on...

umm yea ..i see you helped alot there buddy..i wonder what post#2 will be like? is it about me again?

If you can't find something productive to post about on here, then don't post at all. This person is trying to get help from us on how to fix his car problems, and obviously, "getting an MKIV" is not going to solve the current problem with the car he has now. This is a tech section, not general discussions.

It hasn't been said yet.....but your symptoms are consistent with Fuel Cut. I was told to hush when I suggested that white smoke may signal BHG. It's common knowlege, but ya, maybe I should just shut up???

And........Welcome to the site. I think you WILL enjoy it here.

I too thought of fuel cut when he described the jerking sensation. What the OP needs to do. like mentioned already, is to pull his codes and report back with the findings.

No, you don't need to "shut up", just try not to scare a new person on here with the first words coming out of your digital mouth to him being "it's a BHG". I know that's not exactly what you said, but if I where a new member on here seeking help and someone with a high post count says, "white smoke=BHG" then I would most likely assume that he/she is right. Then I would start researching the next steps to take to cure this BHG. It's very common get white smoke and bluish smoke confused between each other. An easier way to tell them apart would be to smell them.

Sorry if there was any hard feelings ;).

To the OP, post count doesn't mean shit, don't go by it on here. There are a lot of very smart people on here who don't post often unless they feel that most others trying to help someone out aren't doing a good enough job, so they decide to step in.

Well. There's another problem that dad has recently made. I have the thick book (the book from which all pages of that site I was linked to a few replies up) as well as the smaller celica/supra book, and from what I saw, neither had any info about this piece.

There is a hose coming from the center back of the engine that goes up and toward the passenger side of the car into something that is attached to the firewall. Dad was messing with something and the hose broke off. Took the connecting piece with it. Anyone know what that is so I can go buy another? I think it's part of the heating system, and if so, I might just couple the hoses (there's another hose connected to that box) and bypass it for the time being (seeing as how I don't need a heater)

I did get to my turbo yesterday, though. There is actually oil in the plastic piece of hose that goes back over the turbo to the metal piece labeled 3000. So this means there's oil AFTER the intercooler, and I might have oil in it too, not sure. There is a good bit of shaft play both up/down and side to side, so the turbo is the main problem, which turns out to be good news (since it's not my main bearings that I and some other people thought it was).

Unfortunately I can't drive the car [to get it tested] to pull my codes.

I hope you are not talking about the water union fitting that screws into the back of the head!

If you broke that then you are in for some unpleasant work ahead.

The union itself is cheap, but it can be a real pain to remove. It requires a huge socket (33mm from memory) and is made of thin steel. It often shears off in the head, and then you need to use a huge extractor to get it out.

With the head off the car its not so bad, but with the head on access is blocked by the firewall and the job is much tougher.

I added a picture of the water union fitting.

The hose is not broke off the engine side, it's broke off the little block that attaches to the firewall about directly in front of the passenger seat (the box connects to the engine-side of the firewall, of course). The hose connected to the right side of the box (looking at it). The hose still has the clamp on it and whatever it clamped to is still inside (just haven't moved anything yet).

You mean the water valve assembly. That is a lot better than breaking the water union. Get a used one from somebody parting out their car.

now, now, kids. Calm down. Not all indians are smelly

I have the car because I'm 20, I like cars, especially fast ones, and especially supras, and someone said I could drive it home for $2800 when it was in tip-top condition. I happened to have about 2650 in the bank and borrowed the rest from a friend.

Did you pull your codes???

No, I didn't. I'll have to go do that this weekend. It's parked in my parent's garage while its broken. I'll get back to you on that.
