My first Supra!

Hey everyone!
I was gently coerced by a pop-up window to create a intro thread before they delete my profile for not posting, so here goes!

I'm just another broke college kid that knows how to save just enough cash to buy parts for his cars.
I'm new to the Supra scene, but no stranger to performance cars. I was a mechanic for 3 years at my
uncle's performance shop while I got my AA from my local community college. Now I'm double majoring
at a local university and have even less money!

I've had some fun cars, a 9C1 Caprice with an LS1 ((got t-boned)), a '94 Del Sol Si ((4th car in a 5 car pile-up))
then I picked up a '93 Civic hatch with a GSR swap ((thank god for insurance money)) which I sold for my first Supra!

About a year ago, a good friend of mine took me for a ride in his white '88 MKIII turbo and I was hooked.
I loved everything about it, but I never thought I'd be able to pick one up since they're not too prevalent around
here and nice ones are few and far between. About a year later, I told that same friend to keep an eye out for a
good Supra for me since I had a little extra capital laying around and he found this!

(only pic i have so far, more to come after finals!)

A cherry '91 Turbo without a scratch on it, let alone any rust.
She's never seen snow ((never will!)) and was driven hardly at all until I snuck in and bought her.

I still can't believe I bought a Supra... How bad ass is that, right? :biglaugh:

Suggestions welcome! First on my list is getting rid of those sawblades...

holy clean supra batman!

you a lucky man sir!!

Thanks guys! The best part about this whole deal is I sold my civic hatch for $250 more than
what I paid for the Supra! I don't want to say what I paid... it was a honey of a deal tho! :naughty:

That car is beautiful, everything looks perfect even the stock lip! Great find! I'm jealous :)

Thanks man! Is this the right thread to list mods too? It has a few extras, but I don't want to anger the moderators in my first thread.

Yea, sure go ahead - that's part of an introduction.

Sweet. Here's the list!
JDM 7M-GTE with about 45k on it now, mls head gasket and ARP head studs,
rebuilt .57 trim CT26 set to ~10lbs, 550cc injectors, walbro fuel pump,
3" downpipe to 3" exhaust, rebuilt auto trans with a shift kit and stall converter. Zoom rear end gears,
but I'm not sure what ratio. I've gotta pop the ocver off the back and find out.
Drilled and slotted rotors all around* (added. forgot!)

The guy I got it from bought it from a professional drag racer in Virginia who built it for himself,
so it has all sorts of goodies. I even found an HKS boost conroler on it, but it's missing the controller
box that sits inside the car. It still has the little controller unit installed under the hood and everything,
but nothing controlling it.
Here's a pic! ((I'd buy a controller box if anyone wants to sell it!))

So, I know I'm running more that stock boost because it buries the needle on the boost gauge, and I know
I'm below 12psi because I never hit fuel cut and I have the stock afm.
(did a little research and looked into it))

Ideas, suggestions welcome!

Mileage? Original paint?

I was told about 45k on the motor and less on the trans, 160xxx on the odometer and was repainted
professionally 2 years ago before it was sold to the guy i bought it from.
There is only one flaw on the body that I've found and that's a small spot of paint that chipped off the
top of the rear bumper. Interior is faded in a couple places, but otherwise great. 6 speaker set-up with a factory amp.
6'5's in the door too!

Let's hear what you think!

Thanks jugodegolf! SURUKO! She sure runs like she was built right. No smoke, no leaks, idles perfect and shifts beautifully...

Very nice MKIII. Don't sell it, keep that beauty. You'll regret selling it and end up buying another MKIII that's probably not in the same condition and in need of work.

Adam

Oh, I don't plan on selling her, Abe. I know for sure I'd regret it. You NEVER find cars like this without rust where I am.
It would have to be a crazy amount to make me even consider it! I'm just curious as to what it's thought to be worth.

Here's a quick engine bay shot I just ran out and took. She's a little dusty because of rain and a few dirty
roads I encountered in a park during a grill-out this weekend, but otherwise really clean.

I already have the pipe to put in an HKS SSQV and a new steel lower charge pipe to replace the stock rubber one.
I was told there are some downsides to not running a recirculated BOV, (temporary rich condition, stalling etc)
Does this happen with the HKS SSQV?
(please, no flaming for the redish vacuum line. I haven't done anything to this car yet!)
