I was told there are some downsides to not running a recirculated BOV, (temporary rich condition, stalling etc)
Does this happen with the HKS SSQV?
(please, no flaming for the redish vacuum line. I haven't done anything to this car yet!)
Well, yes. Unless you're get the recirculation fitting on the ssqv. Basically, if you floor the car, whenever you let off (and the BOV goes off) it's going to let off air (obviously), but since the AFM is before the turbo, the ECU has already metered that air and added enough fuel for the proper air/fuel ratio.
...and since you're going to lose some metered air from the BOV when it goes off, you'll experience a rich condition at let off/shifting. In my experience it's not a HUGE deal. Basically all that's going to happen is, for example, if you floor the car, then let off and hold the clutch to the floor, your idle will drop REALLY low (less than 500 rpms) for a sec, then it'll be fine.
I ran an RFL and an SSQV both unrecirculated for years and it didn't really bother me. You won't notice in everyday driving. Or, I didn't at least.
