Actually no, you usually don't pay that much more if you let a lawyer do it.

I have a spotless record, and I can't remember how many tickets I've had (yes that bad).

I got a reckless driving ticket with a triple the speed limit infraction thrown out of court... cost me about $600, but it was well worth it.

Lesson learned? Take it to the track.

my point was that the only real time you need a lawyer is for major infractions like brents...

he did exactly what he should have done, talked to some1 before the trial, he ended up getting it changed to (in this case a different item) a different speed and bam no major fine and no reprocussions from insurance

All I'm saying is never just roll over and pay a ticket... always fight them.

Back when I was 16 I got busted for "driver spinning tires" ticket. I was so embarrassed and scared, that I just paid the $50 - 1pt ticket not knowing what else to do.

That point stayed with me for about 3 years with my insurance.
