I come from a land down under
It's simple diagnostics not rocket surgery

ie: If there's power to the Starter relay is it getting to the relay out?

This tells you a) the key switch is working and b) the relay is working, if no to either you now know which isn't.

If yes then check the connections at the Starter if the power makes it that far and there's still no start THEN it's the starter....

These cars are a bitch to change out the starter on so you want to be 100% sure it's dead BEFORE you do the job.

Or buy a $5 test light and start probing the starter circuit while a helper turns the key...... :nono:

For the OP, the big wire is battery power, the small one is ignition, and should not light until said buddy turns the key to the start position.

i had a problem with this for a long time with my starter, it was the contact tabs inside the starter, which is extremely common on our cars and small older toyota trucks with similar starters, they grind down on the copper tabs inside of the starter to a point where the washer cant make good contact, what with the buildup on the washer over time it simply wont connect, instead of spending somewhere around 50-55$ (around where i live estimate) to have it rebuilt, go to a dealership and pay about $8 for a couple of tabs, take the cover off the starter and replace them and clean the washer really well, been workin like a champ for well over a year, hope i was of help if you havent already fixed the problem

This is true. I have changed a few Corolla and Camry starters for the same reason.

Have you run the battery down trying? Define no lights. Do you just mean dash lights that come on with the ignition switch? If so, you have done some narrowing down. But test your battery voltage to be sure.

Lmao. Answer these questions:

1) Do the headlights work?

2) Do the brake lights work?

And undo what you did before. Unground the wire you grounded when trying to defeat the alarm...

1) yes

2) yes

3) already did

Look what I found! There are two different types, and I have never noticed that. The two have similar but different connectors. I've never seen anything about this, so I felt the need to post the picture, and give some info on those connectors.

This is what you are looking for to disable the alarm.
