I finally put the car back together. I had the valve covers powder coated.(Powder coating done by Empera) Thanks buddy!! I also painted the galley cover and timing belt cover. I took it for a spin. Feels good to be driving it again. Is there a break in period for a new head gasket? Pics to come soon!

Here are some pics finishing up the this stage of the project. I finally cleaned all that dirt and oil off the turbo. almost looks brand new. I also polished the water neck. I just realized looking at these pics that the passenger side of the engine bay is all shiny and clean but the driver side is all dirty and ugly. I need to clean the driver side too. lol

Your car is really starting to come together now you just need a better turbo correct? :naughty:

hell yea!!!:evil2:

I'm working on it. Researching and shopping around for manifolds, turbos, wastegates and downpipes. But mainly looking the right turbo. I'm thinking of getting a GT35r. If anyone has any suggestions/experiences with turbos on a 1jz please LMK.

I need a new wheel. My FR wheel is wobbling. It sucks. I can feel it when driving. The whole steering wheel shakes. This is also probably my alignment problem. It pulls hard to the left. So if anyone has or knows anyone that has a set of work vs xx wheels that they're trying to get rid off lmk please!!!

Hey all,

So lately I've been doing a lot with the car. I'm getting it ready for the next stage.:evil2:

I've ordered a oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, oil thermostat, and a fan controller from Summit.
I bought a new body harness off of tubbie. Which remind me I'm waiting on a new boost gauge from him too. I also finally bought an all 2 core aluminum radiator, with new dual fans and a aluminum fan shroud. To put the radiator in I have to reroute my ic piping to go under the headlights instead of behind the rad. To do that I have to relocate the battery. So now I'm working on relocating the battery and rerouting my ic piping to get the rad in and also of course installing all the other goodies I just bought.

As for new turbo's i'm debating between the MasterPower T70 from modular turbo, the 60-1 kit or the dm67 kit from driftmotion. Not sure yet.
Pictures to come....

Wow I was trying to read up on the whole thread to see what you all did and it's pretty amazing. It really makes me wanna finish my mk3, but it's been raining here and I've been doing the engine swap on my buddies driveway so it sure slows things down. Kind of glad I stuck with the 7mgte and not the 1jz it looks like a lot more work and a tighter squeeze. But congrats and how good of work you've been doing. I liked all the detail on the tranny rebuild as well, I have two automatics right now and am looking to swap in a R154 when I get some money.

Yea it's been raining horribly here too. It's crazy. We finally got a break from all the rain. It's supposed to rain again for the next couple days. I'm trying to do as much as I can before the rain starts up again. I work on both engines. It's about the same tightness. If you know what you're doing and how to get good deals, like some people i know, its not too bad. Now starting off and not know what you're doing then thats when it gets expensive! That's how I started. If I had done the engine swap in the first place. I wouldn't be running into all these problems, everything would be working and there wouldn't be a big hole in my firewall. But we learn from our mistakes. I certainly did.

In the last couple days its been gorgeous out. I got a good amount done. I took out the ct26 turbo, exhaust manifold, intake, downpipe, radiator, fans, and intercooler piping. I sent the new radiator out to a machine shop so they can tap the hydrofan sensor hole so I can fit in the new fan controller sensor and then they'll pressure test it. Today I'm going to concentrate on mounting the oil cooler, relocating the oil filter and relocating the battery to behind the driver seat on the floor.
