that's for all the support again. guys please go easy on the GF. we have been together for 4yrs and i have put her through hell with me building cars. we all know building a high HP car takes extensive effort and at the time i was also in the miltary going to iraq all the time. i was not showing my GF attention and we experiencing a rough time. that post is over a year old and things are much better for us.

she just offered to to give me a 1000$ for a rebuild. at the current time in my life i really can't swing a rebuild. i'm in school full time now, working part time, i'm moving soon and i don't have the money i was making while in the service. i don't even have a garage anymore. i'm stuck in an apartment complex.

i hope you all can see where i'm coming from. i'm not going anyway and this is just a small hurdle.

IMO i think spending a little more money to make a robust engine will be pennies in terms of what you already spent on everything else in this car. Don't give up, don't give in...you're just one small hurdle away from having it running again.

Think about it, your're SOOOOO close to having a car that everyone can only dream of!! hell your car as is even with a blown motor is 10000 times better then my car. I can understand if you're in a bind and need to pay off loans ASAP but if not how can it hurt you more to just park the car until you feel it's time and necessary to work on it slowly.

It's only an engine rebuild away from being a reliable monster. It's only one step as you have literally everything else in your car.

Sorry about your loss. Good thing the car didn't burn down.

This is just another reminder of how expensive and time consuming this hobby can be.

Hey Mike, I don't know your personal situation. But if I were you, I would just give the supra a break, but don't sell it and lose so much time and money you put into it. Just take your time and fix the supra when you have the means to do it. Trust me, you will want to get going again eventially. Just take a deep breath, and give it a rest. Good luck..

Mike man what can I say....that is just terrible, I still cant believe it! When you messaged me I thought you were kidding with me! Well at least you are ok, and the whole car didnt burn to a crisp. I guess at this point its just better to make the best of the situation. I dont blame you for wanting to part out after such an incident. Like you said it really took ALOT out of you. Whatever decision you make I wish you the best of luck in the future...

You think so? :3d_frown: hehe Ive read plenty of stories of 2jz rods going with not much more power. Time for you to do some reading up buddy. Just cause it will handle it doesnt mean they will last a long time at that power. Same with the 7m rods which was clearly shown here. Noobs...

What the hell is going on around here lately? If it's not people getting their supras totalled in wrecks, the engines are blowing up left and right :3d_frown:. It's starting to become an epidemic...

I know how you feel dude...
I'm sitting at home going out of my mind knowing my car is just outside in the driveway, completely fucked.

Oh man this is horrible.... I think the next thing on my list is a fire extinguisher for sure...

I'm really sorry Mike, I think a fire is the absolute worst. I'd rather have 5 BHG's then a fire. I hope it didn't do too much damage with electrical stuff, etc.

Hopefully you can rule out the possibility of sabotage from a certain significant other so that you can live life in peace :) j/k

I hope you don't sell your car. Your build up was an inspiration to me personally and gave me something to shoot for. I know fixing these cars aren't cheap. If you're really in a money bind I'd honestly just store the car for a while until you can fix it again (if the fire damage isn't too bad). My car sat for 5 yrs while I was in college because it put me in the poor house as well. Don't do anything for at least a couple weeks, think it over well.

If you do decide to keep the car but still need some cash, part out certain things, try to sell the stuff you'll get the most for and are easy to install and buy back later on.

I hope everything works out well for you.

You forgot your asterisk, joe.

On topic:
Malloy, sorry about the car. Hopefully you enjoyed it enough and you will be reimbursed well enough for the parts that you feel the experience of building it and driving it till it died was worth it.
