Awesome build quality man. I really appreciate your work.

Ditto, what are you going to do with the TO4R? I might be in the market for a new turbo...

Thanks!

T04R is long gone, but I still have the manifold, wastegate, and oil feed kit. I'll let them go cheap, so make an offer.

Edit: PM's please, if anybody wants to ask about a part that I'm getting rid of. I don't want this to be a FS thread...

What WG? I might be interested in that!
Too bad the 2jz manifold is different from the 1jz:3d_frown:

Got the engine out and on the stand for teardown.

Transmission off and set aside for later

The clutch got a little hot...

I was able to unbolt the A/C compressor and leave it in that car with the system still pressurized.

This is all the grinding that was needed to use the A70 lines and top plate for the compressor.

I've got a lot of work to do...

I hope it does. I'm trying to take the time this time around to make it look the way I really want it to.

Wow, you got away with grinding less on the PS pump bracket than I did! good job. I'm deffinantly following this build as the goals are similar to my own. A few questions.

1. By how much did you extend your harness. And if you could do it again would you have gone a little shorter?

2. What did you recharge your AC with?

1. I believe 18 inches was the magic number to reach the body plugs. I extended all the ECU wires an additional 18 inches so that I could put the ECU under the passenger side carpet. I honestly think it turned out perfect.

2. I used an R134a retrofit/recharge kit that I got from Kragen (or Schucks/Checker) Auto Parts. About $50. Worked great!

Working on the engine in the garage and on a stand is a lot easier and more convenient for working on after work and after dark so I actually worked on it two days in a row! I've never worked on a Supra engine on a stand before, but this is making me wish the engine was easier to pull for all maintenance. :D

First off, look what i picked up last night for $150! A buddy of mine picked up a Supra that already had this in it, but he didn't like how it blocked access to the back seat. I don't have a backseat, and he was willing to let it go cheap. :D Autopower SCCA approved race roll-cage:

All I did tonight was pull the intake side apart.

p1201844_3.jpg

About a year or so ago I kept having spider webs pop up in my engine bay, and judging by the toughness of them, I was pretty sure it was a black widow. My suspicions were confirmed upon finding this little fucker! Looks like I got the last laugh. :) There were two but the other one got destroyed when removing the manifold.

p1201844_5.jpg

And the parts pile grows...
p1201844_6.jpg

See the difference that etching aluminum cleaner made on the IM? Soon it will all be that clean.
p1201844_7.jpg

My poor Supra has been spread across the whole garage, and I'm not even done taking it apart yet. :(
p1201844_8.jpg

And the next step...

Nice clean headgasket surface (the product of hours of hand cleaning and polishing) and some ARP studs.
p1226104_1.jpg

p1226104_2.jpg

New hadgasket in place.
p1226104_3.jpg

Head's back on.
p1226104_4.jpg

Just needs valve covers! (Repainting those is one of the next steps.)

Until next time,

WTF kind of head gasket is that? There is no way I would put that on my car, not with cooling passages that small. Other than that, looks good!

It's a stock Toyota gasket, identical to the one that came off, actually. lol I thought it looked a little weird too, but I compared them and they are the same.

1 picture update!

p1241849_1.jpg

Almost back together with some fresh paint to help cover up the ugly. All I need to do now is send the rest of the aluminum bits (upper IM, upper water pipe, turbo piping, etc.) off to be cleaned up like the lower IM, and with a little more cleaning the engine should be done.

Engine is finished, but I decided to go a different route and the engine, harness, ECU and a few other items are now for sale over on that "other" forum, soon to be posted here too.

On that note, here's some pics of the finished product.
