i was turning my motor last night on the stand with my hands by the crank pulley it is fully assembled long block, but i was calibrating the cps, from 0-10* it turned relativly easily, but when i got much futher it got pretty hard, now the arrow on the crank pully is pointing right at about 5 o clock in the conterclockwise directions and i could not turn it anymore, so i figured i would sleep it off and be back tomorrow, whats wrong here? it was professionally assembled by a good machinist!!! :1zhelp::1zhelp::1zhelp:

Was you just turning the motor by hand if so you might try getting a socket and try turning it. I'm not sure and i'm sure some will post for sure but it might just have made compression.

Do you have the spark plugs in the motor....? If so, take them out.

you couldnt turn the motor with the plugs in though?

either...

man up nancy...

or double check everything is right.

not a nancy....
i could turn but once it got half way around and had built up compression i could go no further.
what all should be double checked?

Yeah... there might be something wrong, it is a low compression engine 8.5 to 1... it was almost fun.

A 7M-GE is hard to do by hand with something like 9.5+ to 1 but still not that hard.

my first thoughts are the bearings being too tight, or the wrong torque on the connecting rod bolts.... cause my motor with spark plugs in wasnt that hard to turn... so im just sayin...

and maybe his version of 'locked' is totally different than mine... who knows. im not there to actually spin the motor.

btw... im speaking from personal experience, helped a friend rebuild his motor and he mixed up his rod caps...

If the engine has been sitting for a long time then the oil/assembly lube on the crank/pistons might have deteriorated over time. If you still cant get it unstuck try relubricating everything.

well i took out the plugs and got a socket on the crank pulley bolt, it was rough for a little bit, but after that it strangely freed up like initally was at 0*-10* all the way around, not abnormally loose but i wasnt popping any blood vessels anymore
